“Can we met?” he ask through the phone, “give me your location” she answers after another long pause. Tunde sits in one of the arm chairs provided by the bar and sips his glass of beer. His dressing was that of a military man though he is not in his khaki, shaved head with a stern face full of scars. The chair he occupied has a round table for five people but no one dares to sit near him, his aura isn't friendly. Jane walks straight to his table; it wasn’t hard to find him since he was alone. “Good day Tunde” she greets him and sits in one of the chairs. “Long time no see Jenny? Hope you are doing well?” he asks her, his facing beaming with smile; he looks uglier with that smile, “doing good, what about you?” she replies with a question a faint smile. “The last time I saw you were in Lt. Ola burial, exactly three years now” he speaks and takes a sip of his beer, “that’s true” she agrees nodding her head. “Why did you call me?” she questions him, “just checking up on you” he smiles at his statement. “Only?” she raises an eyebrow, “cant I?” he teases her. “My darlings are waiting for their mum, please make it quick and tell me why you called” she answers. “Mama wants to see you” he says in a bit serious note. “We already discussed this right? A ‘no’ is a ‘no’” she replies, grabbing her bag from the table she makes way to the exit. Tunde drops the beer fee on the table and follows her, “please hear me out” he pleads as she stops to hail a taxi. “You all turn me into a fool and at the last minute, at my saddest moment reveal that b***h” she could not complete it; the tears she held back began to force their way out. He stretches his handkerchief and she collects it to clean her tears. “I admit Mama has nothing to do with it, I did not tell you on time and it’s my fault” he admits with his head low. “I gave him my youth, life, kids, even took care of his mum but he still cheated on me” she sobs. “If you will continue with this stupid pleas, please never ever call me again, if not I will stop picking your calls” she return his handkerchief, a taxi stops. She hops into the vehicle, “bye” he waves, “let’s go” she orders the driver ignoring Tunde. The taxi zooms off. Memories of the past began to flow in her brain. The night she received the call from her husband’s superior about his death. She was devastated. His mother lived with them and she pondered on how to tell her about her only son’s death. She spent the rest of the night awake and grieved. She called her husband’s sister, Amira and told her about the news. Their compound was filled with grievers from all walks of the world. She sat exactly near her mother in-law consoling the woman, she has drastically loss weight due to the sad news.
