Chapter The dream

Finally it help an I fall asleep and I begin to dream about a wolf a tan and dark brown wolf. I am sitting in an empty field and the wolf is sitting there and I don’t know why but I feel like I know it. I walk to the wolf and he stay there and waits until reach it and right before I do. I wake up and I am back in my bed and it is 1 am.

What was that dream? I don’t understand why I am dream about a wolf. Mmm I don’t know I turn back to my side and try to go to sleep. I know I would be able to really and I am now thinking about what that dream means. I have to be up in 4 hrs to go and get my next assignment. I tried to go back to sleep but it just wasn’t working.

I decided just to get and I went and grabbed a book from my book shelf to read to pass the time. Before I realize it I had read half the book and my alarm was going off. So I got up and got ready from work. I picked out a black skirt and a baby blue top. After brush my teeth and wash my face I grab my keys and headed out the door. I decided I am going to stop my the local coffee stop and get me a chai tea latte. It is my favorite, which I get cold with lite ice.

After I get my coffee and arrive at work. I head to my desk and see my next assignment sitting there and I open it up to find I need to go to the local factory. The workers are rioting for better wages. I need pictures for the rioting workers for the paper.

Once I left and got the pictures I came back and submitted the assignment into the system. I looked up at the clock and saw it was time to leave. I grabbed my bag and started heading out when I got to the elevator and ran into the guy again. This time I hope I can at least get his name.”Hi, I am Jacquelynn.” I said as I held out my hand. He didn’t reach for it so I just drop it and turned back to the elevator. Thinking to myself how rude he was being. As the doors open I walked inside and he just stood there staring at me. “ since you won’t talk to me or tell me your name. Please just take a picture and leave me alone.”

As the door started to close he looked at me and said “ Lucas” and the door shut all the way. Seriously he won’t talk to me I have only ever heard two words from him and it only ever says anything to me when we are leaving each’s present. The elevator opened and I walked then feel him staring at me. At least it has to be him. I don’t know who else would be staring at me. I didn’t look back I kept walking home. When I got home. I made my plate for dinner. I precook all my meal and dish up into to containers. So this way during the week all I need is to warm up at eat.

Then took my chicken fajitas and my wine to the living room and turned on the tv. Watched one of my favorite show supernatural. I mean who wouldn’t with Sam and Dean Winchester. I know it not real but it is still awesome to watch them. I have alway been fascinated with anything and everything paranormal. All my book tend to go in that direction too. I watched two episodes then went to shower and get ready for bed.

Once in bed I couldn’t seem to fall asleep again. I don’t know why this is happening. I have never had problems with fall asleep before and now all the sudden for the past couple of days barely any sleep. I keep feeling like there is now a void in my life that I can’t quite place. It almost seams like it was always missing but I just never really realized it.

While trying to sleep I stared at the ceiling. Trying to fall asleep and nothing was working. Not even my rain sounds or warm milk. Tomorrow I will have to stop and get some sleeping pills. I don’t know what else to do.

It has now been a month since I started my job. I still am not sleeping nothing is helping. By the end of the week I feel drained to the point that I spend my weekend sleeping to catch up on my sleep which still isn’t much. I spend most of my focus trying to make sure my work is not failing. I haven’t seen Lucas at all. I heard he was on some big assignment that took him out of the city. I have no clue where, but I really feel like confronting him on his attitude. But until he comes back I can’t do anything but wait.

Lucas POV

It was June 21 and I was heading in to my photography company to check on it. We had just hired a new employee. I don’t know who it is. I was heading in to check out the file. It is one of my many companies that we use to provide from the for the pack. I am Alpha Lucas Darknight of the Night moon pack.

I walk in to my company which I called the unseen photography. I though it is cute. It is a way to make sure we weed out photo of the supernatural. Since it is we must keep the secret of the supernatural world. Once I get inside i see the receptionist desk.

“ Hi, Alpha” says Maggie

“ Hi Maggie, how are you today?” I said

“ I am great, Alpha. The new girl will be starting today. She is to report in about an hour.” She told me

“ Very good. Thank you Maggie. I am heading up to my office. You know where to send her.”

“ Yes, Alpha”

I started to head up to my office. Once I got there I saw the file sitting on my desk. I opened it to read it. It told me about a 20 year old photographer who love taking pictures of nature and animals in nature. We hire her as a normal photographer. Trying to keep her away for the supernatural. Because we have seen that some of her photos were of the wolf side of us. She had captured a picture of my beta. Which she was a beautiful dark brown wolf.

I didn’t have background on her as I don’t like to pry unless it is necessary. I leave that to my head enforcer. If he doesn’t feel there is a threat, then I don’t worry as he is head enforcer for a reason. He also runs my security firm. After looking at her application. I check over a few more papers when my beta mind links me about a problem. “Alpha Lucas, we have a problem rouges at the south border again” she said.

“Emily, thank I will head right over” I linked back. Our land in about 30 min out side of town but we do make sure to protect the town to. It will be 10 min in I run in wolf form. I stand up to head there. As I get on the the elevator and begin to head to the main floor. My wolf is move a lot in my head. “Leo what is going on” I asked him

“ I don’t know Lucas, but I feel something good is coming” he said to me still pacing. That is when is hits me the most wonderful smell of lavender and honey. That when I look up to see the most beautiful human. The most beautiful brown eyes and long beautiful brown hair. I see she has the most beautiful curves in all the right places. I get hard just thinking about her underneath me. Normally we would say mate but because we are in the presents of human.

I keep from saying it, but it doesn’t stop Leo “ mate mate mate” “ l know Leo but we can’t jump into anything she is human” he whimpered “ we will figure this out” I tell him. People start walking off and one person touches me and that is when I snap out of it. As I walk off my attention is still on her and she is looking at me. I said walk as I walk past her and she doesn’t respond right away. Until someone walk in front of her the she stammered “H-hi” as she walked in the elevator and I smile as the doors close.

The I turn around and walk to Maggie “ who was that Maggie?” I asked her. “ That was the new girl Alpha, miss Jacquelynn Baker.” “ Thank you Maggie” I walk out because I need to get to the border ASAP. Emily just linked me again asking if I am coming. I run out of the office and for the forest behind the office building. I shifted into my wolf and ran to the border once I reach the area I walk out and my beta throw me some shorts.

“ What happen that couldn’t be handled without me” I said. One of my warrior bring a small child looked to be about 10.

“ Sorry Alpha but we killed the rouges they were all men and they had the child with them but she was in tied up on one of their backs” he said.

I bent down to the height of the child. She was shaking” You don’t have to be afraid sweetie” I said “ We will not hurt you. What is your name?”

“I-I am Betty, Alpha.” She said

“Betty, what happened to you?” I asked her. She looked at me and said “ they took me from my bed and then lead my mother and father out and killed them. We are from the silver lunar pack” I know this pack they don’t have much of a defense. It was because they are too small. “ Do you have any family Betty?”

“No alpha, I think they killed everyone in my pack cause when we left I didn’t see anyone around but I did see blood.” I gave her a sad look. I stood up and looked at Emily “ look into what happen there send a couple warriors to check everything.” I said “ Okay on it.” She mind linked and put people on it. The Silver lunar pack was allies of ours. So we do not mind checking it out. It was were my mother came from. “ Jacob, can take Betty to your wife to get her feed and cleaned. Will that be okay for tonight until we can find something better?” He stepped up. He gave me that far away look. I figured he is asking his wife. I knew he would be our best bet as he had a daughter about her age.

“ Alpha, Misty she would be delighted to help her and she can stay as long as she needs. If she would like to she is welcome to be part of our family.” He said. Then bent down to her and asked “ Will that be okay doll?” She nodded. He took her hand in his and then said “ I have a daughter who wants to meet you her name is Celeste. Would you like to meet her?” She nodded and started pull him along. I just chuckled.

“ Cleaned this up and then get some rest.” I said to all my warriors.

They all said “Yes Alpha” I headed out back to the pack house. Once I got the I took a shower. Change in to shorts and I blue shirt. Then head to the office to get some work down. As soon as I sat down Emily walked in.

“ What is going on Alpha? What happened earlier that took you so long to get to us?” She asked.

“ I found my mate” I said back

“ What? Really congrats! Where is she?” She asked with excitement. Find and claim mate is normally a right then and there thing.

“ She is human. My new employee for Unseen” I said back with a little bit of sadness.

“What are you going to do?” She asked

“ I don’t know yet. I still have to figure that out. But we have the summit meeting in three days.” I knew there was no way to do anything until I get back.

“ She just started working today. I ran into her when I was heading to you guy at the border.”

“ I am sure you will figure it out. I am going to bed. I will let you know when we hear back from the warriors that went to Silver Lunar” she told me as she looked at me.

“ Good night Emily.” I decided at this point I am going to head to be too. The rest of my work I can do first thing in the morning. I head up to the top floor which is the alpha floor. Level 4 and second floor is for beta and gamma families and the offices. Third is for guest and bottom floor in kitchen, dinning hall, library, gaming room and then the movie room. We have a pool in the back west side of the Pack house and an entertainment area in the back east side. Where we hold all important events.

Once I reach my room I get ready for bed, but once I am laying there. I realize I can’t fall asleep. I spend part of my night thinking about my mate.

“Mate is beautiful” Leo said in my head.

“ I know I can’t wait to get to know her. I don’t know how we are going to hold off until after the summit” we won’t have enough time before then”

“ Want mate now” Leo says.

“ I do to, but we can’t just take her. She is human. We have to go slow. So she doesn’t freak out in this world of ours. Plus the summit starts in three days and we won’t be back for a few weeks” Leo whimpers.

Summit is a week and half. Which Emily will be attending with me and my gamma will be watching out for the pack. After the summit I will be head to the Elder Pine pack to visit my family. Mom and dad live there with my aunt which is here pack. It is mostly because they like to travel. So they went there since it is central to everything.

As I think about all the plans I begin to fall asleep. I start dream of running in the meadow in wolf form and then smelling my mate. I look up and see her coming out of the forest and she doesn’t look scare of me I sit where I am at. She comes up to me and pets me.
