Vanya It has been close to a week since I fainted and I honestly don’t know whether or not to thank the moon goddess or to curse her all the way to the pits of hell for making me part of the royal pack. I get that it brings me closer to my biggest target, but still…that doesn’t mean I want to see him every single damn day. This is the second change I have come across in this lifetime. The first change, me getting a wolf spirit was a nice and good surprise but this second one? Not so much. It makes me terrified of the other changes that have been made, but in the grander scheme of things that doesn’t really matter. All that matters is that I stay focused on the goal. I learned a lot these past couple of days, one for example is that I was brought back five months before the killing of the royal family. That left me with little time to find out who the hell was behind the whole scheme. The second one is that my sister was still an omega and so were my parents but for reasons they couldn’t understand, and I can’t tell Casey, I had a strong wolf. The other thing is that our parents left us the big ass house that we now live in and they also left us a s**t load of money. Apart from that, what came as a surprise was that in this lifetime I was a teacher, teaching in the local pack school. Can you actually believe that? I am not the most patient of people and my temper gets the better of me so me being a teacher is actually a shock. I decided that I would take time off because one, I have a lot of more important things to do and secondly, the current me knows nothing about teaching, so going back to work is a disaster in the making. The other thing that I found out was that some things were still the same. Like the royal family, the Alpha king and his beta were still the same people and I planned to make their deaths hurt. Becca was sadly still my best friend and Jason and I were still dating. I know that I needed to keep them around if I had a chance of knowing what was happening and what they had planned. I honestly don’t know how I was going to make that work given that I hated their guts but I had to. The way I see it, apart from Casey, I was surrounded by enemies and since I didn’t want to involve my sister in this s**t storm, it meant that I needed allies Asap which brings me to now. I was in a dinner outside pack borders in the human territory which was considered a neutral territory, it was eight at night. I sat across the third in command of the vampire king and of course his facial expression portrayed doubt and suspicion but it didn’t come as a surprise given what I was telling him was nearly impossible and also as you can guess vampires and werewolves don’t get along, actually all three factions don’t see eye to eye. “Let me get this straight, you want me to believe that you know where Cassius’ heart is?” Damien asks me. I know how impossible it sounds especially to him, since they have been searching for that particular heart for a decade with no luck. Ten years ago during the day when they were at their weakest, someone cast a spell on his coven and while everybody was deeply asleep including the vampire king, that same person cut out his heart leaving the king for dead. Cassius was that vampire king. In order to prevent him from fading away since just like every living thing the heart is their life source, they preserved him by using an enchanted talisman that acted as a temporary life source. But for ten years he has been in sort of a coma so his second in command Seth and Damien are the one who have been holding the vampire faction together as they await for their king to awake. Of course that act against their king wrecked the relationship between the vampires and the witches since they believed that the one who cast the spell was a witch and was probably acting on their behalf even though the witches said they had nothing to do with what had happened. So the witches, as a sign of good faith, enchanted the talisman that kept king Cassius somewhat alive but despite that, their relationship was still strained. “Yes, I know where it is” and I did know where it was. Two days before the royal party it had been announced that the king’s heart had been found. And it had accidentally been found by archeologists as they were studying an ancient tomb. At first they didn’t know what it was they were looking at but then they got the shock of their lives when they realized that it seemed to be beating. Their discovery had rocked not only the supernaturals but also the entire world. That is how the vampires found their king’s heart. Of course the vampires had to steal it back since humans weren’t supposed to know supernaturals existed. Which then left people at a loss when it hit the headlines that the heart had disappeared with no trace of who could have been behind it. So I decided to take advantage of what I already knew. “We have been searching for it for a decade, and we have hit countless dead ends. What makes you think that you have the right location? Especially given that we have had thousands of people telling us they know where it is only for it to be a lie” he lays back on his chair casually, his blue eyes studying me while I take a bite of my burger. I know his calmness is a façade, he was a predator and simply because he looked calm and relaxed didn’t mean he was, he might strike without warning but I was prepared to take that risk. “Well, I am telling you that it’s not a lie. I do know where it is and I will give you the location” I said, putting down my food and looking directly into his eyes so he knew that I was serious and I was sure of what I was saying. Looking at him, there was no denying that he was quite the specimen and if it wasn’t for the fact that this was a serious matter we were discussing I would have been really tempted to kiss those juicy lips. “What’s in it for you? I know you are not doing this out of the goodness of you f*****g heart, so what do you want in return?” “You’re right, what I want is quite simple really…All I want is an alliance” I pick up my burger and finish it as I stare at him waiting for his answer. “An alliance? That’s all?” he asks suspiciously, and I do get him given most people would ask for something grander but that’s all I wanted. I would need help when time comes and what's better than having the backing of the top vampires because they are indebted to you? “Yes that’s all I want, nothing more and nothing less…just your word that you will come through for me when I need you to” Damien just continues to study me his eyes portraying a mixture of suspicion and hope. He seemed to be undecided whether to believe me or not. “Look, I know vampires and werewolves don’t see eye to eye and you have no reason to trust me, but I also have no reason to lie to you. So let’s makes this easy, we take a blood oath then I give you the location and you promise me an alliance” “We already have an alliance with the wolves as much as we dislike each other, meaning the alliance you want is for yourself, which begs the question, why do you want an alliance with the vampires?” he asks, his eyes still studying me in a very unnatural way. “I have my reasons” I just shrug my shoulders since I can’t possibly tell him the truth. “Do we have a deal? It’s not really hard considering that you have more to gain by having your king’s heart back. Wouldn’t you rather follow that lead and it ends up being a dead end than not trying at all? Plus I am not really asking for much when you think about it?” I continue trying to convince him, because despite my request seeming not to be a big deal, it actually was and I needed him to agree. “Fine! But we are still going to perform a blood oath… for obvious reasons I don’t trust you” those obvious reasons being that I am a werewolf and a nobody in his eyes. “Great, that’s settled then…where would you like to perform the oath?” “Before that, how did you manage to get my number and text me directly?” he asks and for some reason I am not surprised at all. If I was in his shoes I would have asked the same thing. “Let’s just say that I am good with computers.” I didn’t want to give him too much information about myself other than the plain one. Sensing that, he just dropped the subject. I paid for my meal and we left the dinner and headed towards the forest that was bordering wolf territory. It was the one that was closest to us and offered privacy for what we needed to do. “Just so you know, if this turns out to be an ambush, I will rip out your f*****g heart” he says out of nowhere but I just smile understanding his threat but he had nothing to be afraid of. We reach a small clearing and I take out a knife, having come prepared, and make a small cut on my palm then I extend my hands towards him. Damien extracts his fangs and bites into his hand then takes my hand and holds it in his, our blood mixing together. “I Vanya Hart vow to give Damien Aldine the location of where to find his king’s heart and promise that it is the correct information” “I Damien Aldine, vow to honor our agreement and give Vanya Hart an alliance if indeed the information she gives me turns out to be true.” In the supernatural world blood oaths are taken seriously even by gods so the moment he finishes saying his vow, a white light ignites between our hands before disappearing signifying that an oath has been made. Once it’s done we let go of each other’s hands and I send the exact location to his phone, to which he takes out of his pocket and looks at it. “You’re sure this is the place? It looks unlikely that it would be there” he says clearly doubting once he sees the location. “I am a hundred percent sure, just give it a try…after all the failed attempts what’s there to lose?” I ask him. "It doesn't look like a place you would hide something so precious" he tells me while still studying the location. "Exactly, it's a place where you would you would be least likely to check, which makes it the perfect place to hide it" I say, to which he just looks at me for a while before he starts turning around to leave “And Damien? Keep this between us…I have no problem if you tell your king or Seth, but no one else” I needed to be sure that he would keep my identity hidden. “Why?” “Safety precaution” I tell him then turn around and leave, hoping against all hopes that he will keep his mouth shut. Looking at the time on my phone I see it’s past ten, I honestly didn’t know that we took that long. I put my phone on the ground then change into Eclipse. We pick the phone and credit card, hold it in our mouths then make a run to our new home. With Eclipse’s speed, it didn't take us long to get home and since I was now a bit more familiar with the woods having explored it this past week, it made things much easier. We change back to human form when we reach the door to our house. I open it and then enter to find Casey watching Tv. She is in her pajamas and has a bowl of popcorn with her. She pauses the movie she was watching once she realizes I am home, turning her full attention to me. For some reason I feel weird standing naked before her, in our previous life she had seen me in bras, panties and bikinis but never nude, so I took the quilt that was on the sofa and wrapped it around my naked body. “Jason was here earlier but I told him you were out” she informs me. “What did he want?” “Jeez I don’t know…maybe to spend quality time with the woman he is dating” her sarcastic answer doesn’t go unnoticed but I chose not to address that. “He said he hadn’t heard from you since that day at the forest and just wanted to check up on you, make sure you are okay.” “I’ll call him tomorrow…goodnight” I say dismissively, I honestly didn’t want to talk about that asshole. I move towards the stairs intending to go to my room for a much needed bath. “By the way, why do you smell like a vampire?” her question stops me and I turn to answer her. “I was at a club with a friend and there was a group of vampires there. I must have rubbed against one while I was dancing” I hated lying to her but I couldn’t tell her the truth either. “Oh, okay then…just be careful there have been rumors of attacks of late” “I will, I love you Casey” and I did, dying made me realize how I never told them that I loved them often, something I planned on telling Casey as much as I could. Everyday if I had to. “Love you to and goodnight” I mumble a goodnight to her too then head to my bedroom lock the door and collapse on the bed tired. Despite how exhausted I was, I was happy that I had managed to meet with Damien. At least one plan was already done, I now had like a hundred more to go. With that I heave a sigh then get up and go take a shower. Who would’ve known that getting revenge while trying to save the world from certain doom would be so exhausting?
