My body froze as I stared, unmoving for a second. Then my brain snapped. “Are you nuts?” I scoffed, hands flying to his chest so I managed to push him off. When he staggered back, it caused a furrow of my brows. Especially as he gripped a few strands of his hair. “Nuts? Yes, yes I think I'm nuts. Because that is the only way to explain… me!” I frowned, just as the smell ran up my nose. Son of a b***h. “You're drunk.” I stated the obvious. “Maybe.” He groaned. “How can you have a boyfriend? That little boy you were with… Is he really yours? Is that jerk the father?” His voice was slurried that I had to wonder how much he had drunk. At the moment, I wasn't interested in taking care or being responsible for him, but I knew it wouldn't be nice to leave him here alone. I might not care about him anymore, but if he was caught drunk on camera and someone saw me leave him this way, it could cause a spark. And I had no interest in that, so I rang one of my guards and told him where to meet me. “Why're you doing this to me?” He asked, holding onto a pillar to keep straight. Drex tried to reach out, but I grabbed his arm mid air. “Don't even think about it.” He might be drunk, but that was no reason to stop him from knowing what was wrong and right. He breathed out a laugh. “See, that is one of the things that make you so damn attractive.” I couldn't help it, I just had to shake my head. A part of me wanted to ask about Cassie, but I knew better than to. But seriously, from all I know, he should be married by now. Not doing whatever this was. Thankfully, one of my guards came into view. He stopped in front of me with a short head bow. “Is everything okay, ma'am?” “Drex is drunk, I need you to drop him off at some kind of hotel, I don't really care where. Just get him out of here.” He nodded. “Okay, ma'am.” There was a flicker of hesitation, before he started to reach out, but stopped when Drex raised a hand. Drex stared right at me. “Why? Why won't you talk to me? Why won't you give me a chance to explain?” He might have sounded blitzed, but each word held a deep emotion to them that made me return his gaze. A small crease formed between my brows, and I took a step forward, head shaking when I said, “You lost the chance to explain five years ago, Drex. And no matter how hard you try, it can never be redeemed.” To the guard, “Take him away.” And like that, I brushed past the two, already heading towards the door when he spoke… “Believe it or not Lisa, but I'm proud of the woman you've become.” I didn't stop, because I didn't care about what he thought. My success wasn't because or for him, so his opinion was irrelevant. Until he added… “And I'll forever regret letting you go.”
