I watched Lisa leave with the little girl, my mind conflicted the entire time.
That child— Imogen. She didn't just feel like any child. Like any girl I had ever held.
The way I felt… A connection.
An undeniable connection.
It might not make sense. Heck, it didn't make any sense, but I knew what I felt.
Which was what made it harder to believe that she wasn't mine.
Lisa might have said otherwise, but I saw it… I heard it.
Imogen called her ‘mummy’. Lisa had looked shocked when she noticed me. Rachel had hesitated before calling the child hers.
That was enough to make me suspicious.
I wasn't ready to believe what they'd said.
Well, at least not now.
“Yo.” Yat's voice reminded me of where I was. “You okay?”
“Sir, you seem lost.” Finn pointed out, keeping his voice low.
Yat, on the other hand, grinned. “That was a pretty interesting drama. I mean, I've seen what's trending about you and your ex, but watching it happen was damn entertaining. Heck, I should've filmed it.”
I didn't even bother with a reply, and just turned to Finn. “I need information about that girl. Every single thing.”
He nodded. “Yes sir.”
If Imogen was Lisa's and she was actually five, could it mean… I was a father?

The next few days after the zoo incident were the most work filled I had ever handled.
I barely had time for anything. Sometimes I would even forget to eat.
If it wasn't for Imogen, then I would likely have spent so many nights in the office.
Working as the CEO of the family business alongside mine demanded a lot of attention, and each day since was filled with me doing that.
Thankfully, I managed to get Imogen enrolled into one of the good schools near my house, so I dropped her there every morning and had Irea pick her up in the afternoon and bring her to the company, so we'd leave together in the night.
Today, though, wasn't one of those days, because Rachel was available and helped me pick Imogen from school. She also let me know she'd keep Imogen with her till I got back.
I was grateful for that. At least I didn't have to worry about her breaking something in my office every second.
Even if it was just for the day.
“I have reviewed the contract with Earnstain Company, all you need to do is sign them, and they'll be getting the goods.” Irea said that afternoon, dropping a few files by my table.
“Alright.” I placed my signature where was necessary, then returned the files.
“Also, I'll have you know that you'll be meeting with some of the partnering companies.” She said. “That is, for the DRX Company, ma'am.”
I held back a sigh. “When is this?”
“Tomorrow. By one fifteen p.m till three p.m.”
All I did was nod. “What CEO would I be meeting?”
She checked her tab, before answering. “Mrs Erica and Mr Drane, ma'am.”
Drex.
I frowned. “Do we have to meet in person? I want an online meeting.” If there was one thing I didn't want at that moment, it was having to spend any second in the same space as Drex.
As it was, he irritated me a lot.
“You'll have to discuss progress, ma'am.” She said, carefully. “It's best if done in person.”
Of course I knew that.
Which was what made me hold back a sigh. If it was business, then it was necessary, then I might as well just accept it
“You can leave.”
With a short bow, Irea left, so I continued with work.
By two, I decided to take a break and eat something, since I'd barely eaten that day, so I shut my computer, then left the office to the elevator which took me to the first floor.
A guard followed behind me the moment I was out, head bowing with each step till I left the company.
“Oh great, there comes Miss Celebrity!” The voice from behind made me pause, brows furrowing.
When I turned, I came face to face with none other than Trish and Cassie, the two holding a smug expression.
“What the hell are you doing here?” My voice was sharp, and it only made them sneer.
“Look at her,” Cassie snorted, “now that you have a little bit of money—”
“A little bit of money.” I had no idea when I laughed. “I have more money than your generation can handle, Cassie.”
She gasped, while Trish frowned. “That's enough.”
“You don't get to tell me that.” I kept my voice low, but sharp so she knew I wasn't joking. “Now, why are you here? Be quick about it, I have things to do.”
Her nose flared, and she started forward, but stopped when my guard neared as well.
“Listen, I need you to get something straight.” Her teeth were gritted. “You might be all wealthy somehow, but don't forget your place.”
“Don't worry, I won't,” I held her gaze, “as long as you remember yours.”
Cassie wanted to speak, but I raised a hand. “Now, this will be the last time I see you in my company for no sensible reason.
“If it isn't business, then don't come.”
Both had their noses flared, so I gestured outside. “Now leave.”
“What?”
“I'll advise you to not make me repeat myself.
“At least if you don't want to be dragged out.”
Both gasped in disbelief, as I looked at my guard. “Throw them out.”
