I took a step back so his hand slid off me, stomach tightened badly. A shaky breath left my lips. I tried —and failed— to keep a composure. “Listen, I-I think I'll be on my way now.” Without waiting for a reply, I turned and scurried off. I didn't stop until I'd unlocked my car and hopped in, the door sliding shut. My face buried in both palm, pulse in my throat, as my fingers dragged into my hair. What just happened?
