4. Saying Goodbye
Sabrina's POV:
"Ahm.. You asked for my presence Mr. Finn," I asked.
"Sabrina yes come take a seat" he gestured towards the empty chair in front of him.
After settling down, I turn to look at him again.
"So how is the work going on Sabrina," he asked.
"All good Mr. Finn in fact I even gathered pictures about the new task you have assigned me with," I replied.
"Oh good, good" he seemed to have been lost deep in his thoughts. It looked like he was trying to come with a new task for me.
"Mr. Finn, today I was to report in the street rally but you have asked me to come here" I question "everything alright?"
"Sabrina you know I care for you like my own daughter right?" he asked.
I nod.
"And I really appreciate all the hard work you have put into my firm but I can’t be greedy and put your life at risk this time" I was confused about what did he mean by this.
"I don't get your point Mr. Finn please be a little more clear," I said.
"Actually Sabrina your boldness and fearlessness is causing a lot of issues for you as well as this company," he said.
"How so?" I questioned.
"You know all the powerful reporters you have exposed so far are taking a toll on my firm and it is likely came to the point to dissolve," he said with an exasperated look.
"So you are asking me to quit aren't you?" I asked.
"No that's not what I ask for because off all the causalities you reported have put a target on you and all I am asking is for you take a brake and continue after sometime," he defended himself.
"Wont that be breach of contract I signed which clearly says that I can’t quit until two years" I paused "given that it’s just been 1 and 3 months give or take I don't see a solution out of this"
"that’s been taken care of, you can continue this month by the end of the month you will be on a paid leave, meanwhile we'll search for place that will provide you with the similar benefits and pay," Mr. Finn explained.
"I can work with that but I’ll be staying here right I can’t leave Chicago," I said with a disheartened look.
"Umm… that's the thing you can continue your work really soon but not here," he said, "as you know we do have our firm in Manhattan and we can place you there."
"Don’t guess I have an option here," I muttered under my breath.
I was still in my thoughts that someone had entered Mr. Finn's office. It was his assistant. She said there was someone on call who wanted to speak to him.
"If you can excuse me now Sabrina, let’s see if we can find a way out of this" I nodded and, disheartened, left his office.
Third Person's POV:
As Sabrina left the office, Mr. Finn attended his call, and it seemed as though he was excited to take the call.
"Is the Job done?" the one who was speaking on the other side of the phone said.
"Yes everything went according to the plan, she'll leave very soon and your path is clear after," Mr. Finn replied.
"Your pay will be delivered shortly."
"You won’t harm my firm now? Right?"
"As long as she stays away your firm is safe."
"Thank You, I'll make sure to arrange her a new place," Mr. Finn replied.
Without knowing that Mr. Finn was bringing her down, Sabrina leaves the place and starts to think of what she could do in her free time. After all, she had plenty of time in hand after this month was done.
Sabrina never thought that the person she looked up to as a father figure was involved in her downfall for his greed.
Ten Months Later. . .
Ten months later, Sabrina was all set packing her essentials, and she had to leave for Manhattan in four days. She spent all her free time researching the place and gathering information about the new home, though she has been there once or twice, that was solely for vacation, but now she has to settle there for god knows how long.
She even spent some time visiting her Parent' workplaces and instructing the responsible about the process and work and renovating things required.
Sabrina had decided that she would take control of her Parent' work. She can't abandon what they've built with their sweat and hard work but from a distance.
Within no time, it was time for her to leave. She has to board the flight tomorrow, the same night she dreamt something weird and disturbing, the meaning of which she couldn't decipher.
Sabrina saw her Dad standing with her 'Angel' dressed in a beautiful tux, standing in a meadow, both of their face shimming with an unnatural glow.
When she went near them, they looked at her with pride. Her Dad came forward and engulfed her in a hug.
"Why don't you visit us Iris?" Jayden asked.
Tears started falling from her eyes. "Sorry Papa, I. . I couldn't find strength to come to you and relive my old scars, I know. . . I know I am bad daughter."
In her dream, too, she could feel the intensity of her words. She didn't dare to face her parents without knowing the actual cause of their deaths.
"Promise you'll come to us," Jayden asked.
"No dad please don't leave me again, I miss mom too wish I could see her again too," she bawled.
"She is proud of my baby and we both are happy wherever we are, always remember that we are watching you from afar" he smiled, wiping my tears.
"Please I can stay here all the people I ever want are here," She whined.
"No baby listen I have to leave soon, but you have to know that all your hardships will come to an end really soon and we are proud you and thankful that we have been blessed to have you as our daughter," Jayden said.
Then he went to her Angel, who was watching everything beside them. Jayden called him with some name which Sabrina forgot by morning.
"Take care of her, she has already been through enough," Jayden said to Sabrina's Angel.
"I will always cherish her and won’t let any harm come near her," he replied.
"What do you both mean by that?" Sabrina asked.
"You will know soon but I am going to take him for a while," Jayden said.
They both started heading towards a bright light coming from afar, there Sabrina saw her mother standing, and she started running behind them to meet her mother she started screaming her mother's name, but no matter how fast she ran she seemed to have stuck in the same place.
Finally, they both disappeared not before Evelyn said aloud, 'love you.'
In the morning, Sabrina woke crying and confused, and she was shaking with fear that something terrible was about to happen again.
Picking herself up, the first thing she did was get her Parent' favorite flowers and visit them in the graveyard.

Here she was standing dressed in all black, In front of two gravestones named Jayden and Evelyn. All the memories of her burying them came rushing back.
"Mom, papa here I am, how could you think that I would leave both without a goodbye, how can I start such important phase of my life without blessings from you both" Sabrina said, falling on her knees, looking at the structures her parents rested beside each other.
She went to Jayden's grave hugged it, imagining that she was hugging her Dad. "Won’t you be there Papa to hold your Iris as she starts a new phase in her life, you were always there in whatever I did."
"Papa, won’t you whistle for me just like you did on the day I was termed as best journalist of the century, sitting in the first row clapping for me?"
She turned to Evelyn's grave and said, "Mama won’t you and dad come to drop me just like you did on the first day in Kindergarten?"
"After spending an hour in the graveyard, she got up as she received a call from Stacey informing her she had to be leaving in two hours.
Picking herself up and turning to her parent’s one last time, she wiped herself. "I promise I'll visit you guys as often as I can and I promise I will not cry and try to be happy I know that's what you want."
She went to her home, covered furniture with a white sheet and parked her's and her Parent's car safely in the garage, locked and kept the critical card her essentials, she checked for anything she could forget and finally picked her parents photograph in which they both were kissing her, she kept it in.
She promised herself to come back at least once a month. With that said, she left the house where she was brought up.
Leaving behind all the horrific memories and losses, Sabrina accepts the change to be positive and gets set to shift to an entirely new home with a tiny bit of feeling to find her Angel in this path.
With tears in her eyes, Sabrina boards the flight relishing her childhood memories and all the horrific incidents, from the first time her parents sent her kindergarten to the moment of seeing the pride in her Parent's eyes on the day of her graduation and her father’s hooting when she was awarded as the best journalist of the year.
Then came when Sabrina saw her parents dying in front of her eyes and the moment when she saw her Angel for the first time plays like a film in front of her.
Sabrina was so indulged in her thought that she failed to notice the pilot and co-pilot entering the flight. . . . . . . .
