Chapter 5 Teach Him a Lesson

756 Words
Laughter erupted throughout the private room, and someone even pulled up the earlier video, passing it around for everyone to watch. Someone mocked, I thought he was a tough guy, but he dropped to his knees the second he was told to. Another joked, Wasn't he just acting out in a fit of rage to defend his woman? Someone else sneered, A useless piece of trash doesn't have the right to get angry. Dexter clenched his fists before pushing the door open and walking in. The room fell silent the moment he stepped inside. The silence lasted only a brief second before the laughter returned, even louder than before. "Speak of the devil, and he appears." When Arianna saw Dexter, she instinctively tried to sit up from Bruce's arms, but Bruce pressed her down. Arianna did not struggle; she continued leaning against him, looking at Dexter with visible impatience. "Why are you so late?" Dexter hadn't spoken yet when Bruce interrupted, slipping his hand inside Arianna's neckline and squeezing her as if no one else were present. He smiled at Dexter with open provocation. "Dexter, as a manager arriving later than his own artist, don't you think you should punish yourself with a few drinks?" Dexter kept his expression calm. "I took cold medicine, so I cannot drink. Arianna can drink with you instead." Arianna froze the moment she heard that, her brows tightening in confusion. Dexter had always stepped in to drink for her before, so she couldn't understand what he meant now. The others hadn't expected that response either, and one overweight investor looked at Dexter with a calculating expression before speaking with a mocking smile, "Dexter, you're killing the mood here. We're talking about investments ranging from millions to tens of millions. If we make Ms. Harmon a superstar, you get a massive cut too. And now you're refusing to drink a few glasses of wine?" Dexter's expression didn't waver. "I'm on cephalosporins. Drinking alcohol could be fatal." The investor set his glass down heavily, his tone turning cold. "Well then, I suppose we'll have to carefully reconsider our investment." Bruce laughed loudly, as if the situation amused him. "Dexter, you didn't hesitate for a second to drop to your knees and beg me for forgiveness back then. Now you're acting like a coward over a few drinks? Are you even a man?" Dexter answered flatly, "I can't drink." The atmosphere in the room dropped instantly, and Arianna's expression darkened with anger—she had not expected Dexter to embarrass them like this. She assumed Dexter was acting out because she had mentioned breaking up, so she stood up and walked over to him. "Dexter, what is wrong with you? It's just one glass of wine! It's not going to kill you!" Dexter looked at her agitated expression and forced himself to stay composed, repeating his words. "Drinking after taking antibiotics can be fatal, and you already know that." Arianna refused to listen and glared at him angrily. "Dexter, I am warning you, stop putting on an act. You are drinking this wine today whether you want to or not!" She stepped closer and lowered her voice so only he could hear. "If you ruin this, I will really break up with you!" Dexter did not argue; he simply acknowledged her with a quiet response before turning to leave. Arianna had not expected him to stand his ground like this, and her anger surged as she rushed after him. "Dexter, stop right there!" She grabbed his sleeve and slapped him across the face with all her strength. Arianna was wearing a heavy, expensive watch, and her nails were encrusted with sharp rhinestones. The strike instantly tore several deep, bloody gashes across Dexter's cheek. "Get away from me!" Dexter shoved her away in pain. But before he could step out of the room, several burly bodyguards blocked the exit. Arianna looked at him with resentment and gave the order, "Make him kneel!" The moment she spoke, a sharp pain shot through Dexter's legs, and he was forced down onto his knees. He struggled and looked up at her. "Arianna, what the hell are you doing?" Arianna ignored him and turned toward Bruce and the others with a smile meant to appease them. "Dexter has been difficult lately. Please forgive him if he offended you. I'm going to teach him a lesson right now!" With that, she picked up a glass of liquor, brutally pinched Dexter's jaw open, and forced the liquid down his throat.
