Emily’s POV The morning light spilled through the small wooden blinds, stretching in golden lines across the room. My eyes fluttered open, and the first thing I felt was the steady throb of my leg. It wasn’t as sharp anymore, more of a dull ache that pulsed with each heartbeat. I sat up slowly, pushing the blanket off my body and swinging my feet to the side. My toes curled against the cool floor. Carefully, I reached down and unwrapped the bandage on my leg. The wound looked… better. Pinker at the edges, healing faster than it should.
