Chapter 10
Riding together in the backseat of the sports utility vehicle (SUV) driven by Vicky Pearson, Isabelle Jade and Pari develop an instant rapport. Delaying any talk about the murder until their arrival at the restaurant, the women relay their affection for Abby and their hopes that her wedding to Kawaii will occur in the near future. Questioned about her dark eyes and complexion, physical traits shared by Isabelle, Pari shares that her father was born in India and learns that Isabelle has mixed ethnicity as well, due to her late father's Polynesian heritage. The women also learn they have common ground from their childhoods. Both were raised in the mid-atlantic region—Maryland for Pari, Virginia for Isabelle—and struggled to confirm the true identities of their fathers.
