Chapter 5 After cleaning up from the beach walk, Pari drives across the island to the neighborhood valley of Manoa, a few miles east of downtown Honolulu. The outdoor aquatic complex, on the southern end of the college campus, features two turquoise pools full of collegiate swimmers and divers in the midst of their morning training and workouts. Pari climbs to the top row of the spectator viewing area, stretches out on the empty concrete bleacher, and waits for Gabriel Beaumont to finish his coaching duties.
