Marrying a Human Woman

1179 Words
“Hey, Tianhai wants the boss to marry a human woman, all to suppress our power. This talk about using the opportunity to promote peace between the werewolves and humans is all nonsense! If the chief of the Red Wolf Clan marries a lowly human woman, it will become the laughingstock of the other wolf clans, and we, the Red Wolf Clan, will never be able to hold our heads up again! I think the woman’s death might not even be a bad thing. Boss, we should take this opportunity to rebel! With our current strength, we might even succeed!” Canaan spoke in a furious tone, his expression full of anger. “Canaan, are you out of your mind?” Fubong shouted. “I’m not out of my mind, I just…” Canaan started, but was quickly cut off. “What rebellion? You little brat, don’t make trouble for me!” Taimir interrupted impatiently, “A coyote clan and a Hong Ji have already exhausted me. You want me to fight against all the werewolf clans?!” “Ugh…” Canaan fell silent, then asked, “So, was the boss really planning to marry a human woman?” “Yeah, that’s right. What’s wrong with marrying a human woman? Since it’s the wolf king’s command, I have to follow it. It’s rare that they even sent over a beautiful lady. Her looks are among the best of the werewolf women.” Taimir sighed as he spoke. “Damn it, now she’s dead. What should we do?” “Boss, Tianhai’s goal was always to get you to marry a human woman to establish dominance over the Red Wolf Clan. It doesn’t matter whether this woman was the one he sent. What matters is that the chief’s wife of the Red Wolf Clan is human,” a man in a red shirt and light attire, Kaiman, stepped forward and said. “Kaiman is right. The wedding ceremony is only three days away. If we cancel it now, people will suspect the Red Wolf Clan is sabotaging it and openly defying Tianhai. The consequences would be unimaginable.” Fubong added. “But the woman is already dead. What can we do now?!” Canaan said with frustration. “Tianhai’s envoy arrived yesterday at our Panqiu Valley, and now the news of her death is probably already with them…” “The wedding must go on. We need to show Tianhai our sincerity. So, we must pick another woman from the human ones. She has to be somewhat presentable,” Kaiman said as he knelt down. “Boss, leave this to me. I’ll bring someone in the morning.” Taimir was silent for a long time, deep in thought. Then, a sly smile appeared on his face. “Why bother picking someone else? We have a ready-made one right here.” Kaiman was stunned. “You mean...?” “Yeah, that woman from just now. She’s the one,” Taimir said, pointing casually. I was led out of the hall, confused, and brought to the chief’s room. As soon as I entered, I felt a chilling sensation pierce through my body. I shuddered involuntarily. It was so eerie! Two werewolves roughly tied me up and threw me onto the ground, leaving me there without another word. They then left the room. I twisted my body on the floor, eventually managing to sit up. I began to survey my surroundings and realized the room was still extravagantly decorated, with lavish gold and silver ornaments, exaggerated sculptures, and walls filled with various bone decorations. But upon closer inspection, I realized the bones were human. In the dim light, the bones faintly gleamed, casting an eerie white glow that sent a chill through my entire body. The atmosphere was so unsettling that it made my hair stand on end. After surveying the room, I could no longer bring myself to look up. I twisted my upper body desperately, trying to free myself from the ropes, but they were tied too securely, and no matter how hard I struggled, I couldn’t escape. I stood up with difficulty, hopping around the room searching for an exit, but found the doors and windows locked from the outside, guarded by werewolves. There was no way out. Time passed slowly. Every second in the room felt torturous. Any noise from outside made my heart race with fear. I didn’t know what Taimir had in store for me, but it couldn’t possibly be good. Perhaps by tomorrow, my bones would be another decoration on the wall. As the hours dragged on, I cursed myself. I regretted my earlier words and actions. Talking about peeling Taimir’s skin and pulling his tendons? I didn’t have the strength for that. But Taimir, on the other hand, might very well reduce me to dust. Now that I had entered the den of the beast, there was no way out. I had been anxious and restless for hours when, at last, the darkness of the night fell. The distant howls of wolves made the night even darker and more oppressive. I curled up against the wall, trying to shrink into myself, my gaze fixed on the white bones that gleamed in the darkness. I felt as though I was freezing to death. Waiting for death was more agonizing than I had imagined. Another five or six hours passed. No one came in. It seemed like everyone had forgotten about me. I felt like crying, but there were no tears. My head rested against the bed, and I thought to myself, now even Death has abandoned me. But death wasn’t as merciless as I thought. Just as I was about to grow numb from the cold, the door creaked open. I jerked upright. She saw a werewolf, covered in blood, standing at the door. I froze, my body rigid. Seeing the devil in such a terrifying form still filled me with dread. Taimir tore off his cloak and used it to wipe the blood from his body. He casually tossed it aside and strolled toward me. He looked tired, but his steps were light. My forehead tightened as I smelled the strong scent of blood on him. Instinctively, I recoiled. Taimir came to my side, crouched by the bed, and let out a low, powerful breath. “What’s wrong? Are you scared?” Taimir said, his teeth flashing in a taunting grin. In the darkness, the beast’s eyes remained sharp, like a sword capable of cutting through the endless night. I was stunned for a moment. Then, realizing something, I quickly responded, “Scared… Of course I am, Chief. Your strength and majesty are unmatched. We, mere ants, can’t help but be afraid.” My throat tightened as I spoke, but I managed to finish my sentence. Taimir didn’t speak, but a glimmer of amusement flickered in his eyes. *Looks like it worked!* My heart lifted with a flicker of hope. I had always heard that flattery never failed—this trick even worked on beasts.
