It spoke?! The monster spoke?! My mind went blank, and I quickly opened my eyes. The creature’s gaze was full of contempt. It released me and, shockingly, stood up like a human. And when it stood—oh boy—it towered over me at more than two meters tall!
This monster was massive and imposing, its arms powerful, and its body built like a brick wall. Thick, glossy black fur covered its upper body, revealing well-defined, sturdy muscles beneath. Around its waist was a finely carved, gold-embellished leather belt, and on its feet were white deerskin boots. Sharp claws, a fierce physique, and ears that stood upright as if they’d never bow down—all of it exuded an untamed arrogance.
I stared dumbfounded for a few seconds before realizing, very clearly, that this beast in front of me was a freaking werewolf!
At that moment, my brain felt like it exploded, and a buzzing filled my ears. From what I knew, werewolves were bloodthirsty, ruthless, and obsessed with devouring raw flesh—both human and animal. They especially loved preying on humans. They weren’t just monsters; they were butchers, far more terrifying than vampires!
A wave of despair washed over me. I pinched my face hard—ouch—it hurt. This wasn’t a dream! I looked around and realized this was no longer the alley from before. I was lying on a patch of vibrant green grass. Misty rain hung in the air, and towering trees stretched endlessly upward, their tops obscured. Light filtered faintly through the canopy above. The vast sea of green around me felt both mysterious and hollow.
“After them,” the werewolf commanded, waving a clawed hand. Instantly, over a dozen fiery red shadows shot into the depths of the forest like lightning bolts.
In that instant, the werewolf’s hulking form began to shrink. Its sharp fangs and claws receded, and the black fur faded away, revealing human skin and strong limbs. Within moments, the fearsome giant wolf had transformed into a rugged, muscular young man.
A white-robed woman immediately stepped forward and draped a dark satin robe over him. He tied it around himself and turned to look at me. A chill ran down my spine as I tried to crawl away. My legs were too weak to stand, but I wouldn’t give up.
I barely managed to crawl a few steps before a pair of black boots stopped right in front of me. Looking up, I saw a handsome young man in white, smiling down at me with an oddly charming and mischievous glint in his eyes. His pupils sparkled like crystals, drawing me in.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
Seeing him felt like spotting a savior. I clung to his hand desperately. The young man blinked, clearly startled by my sudden grip.
“You’re… you’re human, right? Help me, please!” I pleaded, my voice trembling.
He didn’t respond. Instead, the corners of his lips curled up slightly, revealing two sharp, pearly-white fangs.
My heart sank, and a jolt of fear shot through me. I quickly let go of his hand as if I’d been electrocuted.
“Boss, what should we do with her?” The young man grabbed a fistful of my hair, yanking me off the ground. The pain was so sharp I almost cried. Damn it! As expected, these beasts didn’t understand the concept of mercy!
“Kill her,” the werewolf-turned-man said lazily, not even sparing me a glance.
What?! My eyes widened in shock. That decision was way too quick!
“Got it! If that’s the case, I’ll eat her!” The young man suddenly perked up, dragging me by my hair toward the forest as if looking for the perfect spot to tear me apart.
“Take it easy! Easy!” I wailed, tears streaming down my face as I struggled against him. But the young man didn’t stop, ignoring my cries and pain completely.
Hell no! I couldn’t let myself get eaten! Death would be quicker and less humiliating than this. My survival instincts kicked in. Gritting my teeth, I steadied my footing, reached back to grab his arm, and twisted with all my might. One hand gripped his wrist while the other pressed down hard at the bend of his elbow. He let out a grunt of pain and loosened his grip.
I seized the opportunity, darting away from him and throwing myself at the werewolf-man’s feet. Dropping to my knees, I clasped my hands together and begged, “Wait! Boss, you can’t kill me—I’m useful!”
The man loomed over me like a mountain, his presence commanding and terrifying. Though he was now in human form, his aura was overwhelming. I didn’t dare lift my head, feeling his sharp gaze piercing through me. Sweat dripped down my face as I silently cursed myself for groveling. What if begging didn’t work? What then?
“Boss, this human isn’t ordinary. She knows some kind of martial arts. We must kill her!” the young man spat, his earlier playful demeanor replaced by seething anger and dark, chilling hostility.
“That wasn’t martial arts! It was just a self-defense move! Boss, I mean no harm to you!” I cried.
“Enough,” the man said, his deep voice carrying a weight that made my heart stop.
The single word hit like a hammer. Both the young man and I froze. The young man quickly released me and dropped to one knee before the werewolf-man.
The werewolf-man kicked me aside and turned away. “Since she claims to be useful, take her back. I’d like to see what she can do.”
My shameless begging saved my life, for now. They stuffed me into a tiny iron cage and loaded it onto a carriage. The cage was so cramped I could only squat, unable to even lift my head.
The carriage jolted along, leaving the forest and entering a deep canyon. The cliffs towered on either side, shrouded in mist and rain, stretching endlessly into the horizon. The mysterious, rain-soaked scenery added an eerie beauty to the landscape.
As I stared at the unfamiliar sights, a sinking realization hit me. If this wasn’t a dream, then I’d undoubtedly traveled to another world. Though I didn’t know where I was, it certainly wasn’t the world I’d come from.
The white-clad young man sat across from me, glaring daggers. If looks could kill, I’d have been dead a thousand times over.
I felt utterly humiliated. Back in school, I was bold, fearless, and untouchable. But now? I was nothing more than a caged dog at the mercy of wolves. How pathetic!
Gritting my teeth, I cursed under my breath. Damn it, that bastard Xiong Ba! His crow’s mouth actually jinxed me. Was this really my karma?!
