Life-and-Death Moment

"What the hell are you plotting now?" Taimir asked with a smirk, eyeing me with curiosity. I quickly regained my composure and said, “Watch closely, what I’m about to show you is Chinese kung fu!” With that, I spread my legs, lifted my hands, and slowly brought them down, standing still like a maiden. It was as if the whole world around me had gone quiet, and all the werewolves held their breath, staring at me without blinking. Suddenly, I shouted loudly, my left hand shooting out a punch from my waist. I shifted from a horse stance to an archer stance, and in one fluid motion, I delivered a swift front kick, landing lightly on my feet. Next, I suddenly bent low, taking a posture with my right knee on the ground, my left leg stretched sideways, one hand protecting my chest, the other forming a tiger claw reaching forward. I shouted, “Black Tiger Catches the Heart!” "*Pfft...*" A laugh escaped someone in the room, the sound almost infectious. I swallowed hard but didn’t dare stop. I quickly shifted, launching myself upward from my waist, standing tall. Then, with a twist, I spun and performed a flying kick, landing lightly on my feet... “Monkey Steals Peaches!” “Golden Rooster Stands on One Leg!” “Two Spears Pointing at the Throat!” ... I continued with a series of flashy, choreographed martial arts moves, sweat beads the size of peas streaming down my face. But it wasn’t from heat—no, it was cold sweat. The hall had become eerily quiet. Gradually, I felt the atmosphere grow heavy, an instinctive chill crawling up my spine. Before I could finish my routine, Taimir suddenly blurred into motion, and before I knew it, he was standing right in front of me. With lightning speed, he grabbed my throat. My whole body trembled, and in an instant, I was lifted off the ground. Taimir’s eyes burned with fury, as if a fire was about to erupt. He growled in anger, “You have guts, daring to mess with me!” "*Cough... cough...*" I struggled for air, my hands desperately trying to pry his fingers off my throat. Seeing that I was still resisting, Taimir tightened his grip. “What is your relationship with Hong Ji? Tell me!” ... My mind exploded, and everything seemed to circle back to the same question. I had no connection to Hong Ji. I had spoken nothing but the truth—if I was lying, let lightning strike me! But this damn beast didn’t believe me. What more could I say? Hong Ji... Hong Ji had ruined me! If there was another life, I swore I would find Hong Ji and make her pay! “I’m telling the truth! If you don’t believe me, just kill me!” I decided, fully resolved to die. I had been struggling for so long, and now that it had come to this, I suddenly felt a strange lightness in my body. Closing my eyes, I almost imagined myself floating toward a beautiful heaven. Seeing my suddenly stop struggling, Taimir raised an eyebrow, “Want to die? It’s not that easy. I’m going to make you suffer the most brutal torment.” He said this as he tossed me to the ground, and then turned to Fubong. “Give her to the brothers. Tell them not to hold back. Make her confess.” My head buzzed, and a surge of anger shot up from my ribs. I wanted to scream, to strike, to throw something—I even wanted to grab a kitchen knife and chop off that damn leader’s head. But at that moment, I bit her lip tightly, refusing to make a sound or fight back. Before long, a trickle of blood slipped down from the corner of her lips. My eyes burned with fury, and just as Fubong was about to approach me, he froze in his tracks. He had never seen a human display such hatred before. In his experience, humans under the werewolves' power were always trembling, keeping their heads down, submissive and fearful, beaten down by years of oppression. They never dared to show even the slightest hint of defiance, not even a rebellious glance. But this woman... it was as if I was about to be consumed by my own fury, my eyes filled with hatred and resentment that could devour everything in its path. Taimir noticed this too, his brows furrowing. “Do you have anything else to say?” “You perverted demon, I wish I could peel your skin off, pull out your tendons, and drink your blood!” I gritted my teeth, enunciating each word. “Heh, good!” Taimir said, sitting down in his chair and playing with the black-gold ring on his finger. His eyes flickered with an unusual light. Everyone around them tightened their nerves, anticipating the storm that was sure to come. But Taimir did not erupt. A barely noticeable smile appeared on his lips, like a ripple across water, quickly vanishing, leaving behind two gleaming sparks in his eyes that disappeared just as quickly. “I’ve changed my mind. I’ll indulge you. Take her to my room. Tonight, I’ll let you peel my skin, pull my tendons, and drink my blood!” Taimir said coldly. Everyone paused, stunned for a moment. But seeing that Taimir’s expression was serious, nobody dared to speak. After the order was given, I was quickly taken away. Taimir pressed his temples, feeling the calm return to his ears. He let out a long breath, gesturing for everyone to leave. However, at that moment, a werewolf barged in, looking frantic. "Leader, something’s wrong... that woman... she... she’s dead!" “Dead?” Taimir furrowed his brow, confused. She had seemed fine just moments ago. How could she be dead so soon? Could it have been from fear that she bit her own tongue? "Who died?!" Fubong demanded. “The human woman... the one sent by the Sky Wolf King... the one meant to marry you... she’s dead!” the werewolf stammered. “What?!” Taimir’s body stiffened, and he jumped up from his chair. “How could she be dead?!” The room erupted into a flurry of murmurs. The werewolf dropped to his knees with a thud, trembling as he spoke. “She hasn’t eaten any of the food we sent her. She’s been refusing it for about fifteen days. Just now, when we went in, we found that she had already... passed away.” “Damn it! Didn’t I tell you to make sure she ate?!” Taimir’s voice thundered, his teeth grinding. His anger made the temperature drop as everyone in the room shivered involuntarily. “At first, we watched her closely. But she kept cooperating, and... eventually, we got lax.” The werewolf stammered, his voice growing smaller as he spoke. Taimir’s face turned a deep shade of green, and veins bulged on his forehead. He bit his lip and hissed, “Why don’t you just go die?” “Leader, please spare me! Please spare me!” the werewolf cried, nearly losing his wits, repeating the same plea. Fubong stepped forward, threatening, “Looking for death?! Want to keep your head? Then get out of here and notify every guard on duty during this time. They’re all going to be punished!” “Y-Yes!” The werewolf scrambled up and quickly fled the room. “Boss, the wedding ceremony is in two days. Now that she’s dead... this might...” Fubong trailed off, glancing at Taimir’s increasingly dark expression, unsure whether he should continue.
