Chapter 14 PART OF me said that people might be out walking and I should drive slowly through the empty streets, but the cruiser’s siren worked. So did the lights. I rocketed back into downtown in about five minutes, palms sweating, only killing the lightshow a couple blocks from Doug’s home. From the front, the Tander home looked like the family had been on vacation for a couple weeks. With the uncut lawn and absence of motion, it only needed flyers stuffed inside the screen door to complete the illusion.
