MEL WALKED INTO THE squad bay and stopped at Shane’s desk. He was reading through a case file and didn’t notice her at first, but he looked up when she set a cup of coffee down beside him. “In on a Saturday again, eh Sheriff? Thanks for the coffee.” He picked up the paper cup and took a careful sip. “I had Knox back in interview yesterday afternoon. Showed him that picture I think might be Loring, but I just can’t be sure. He says he never saw anybody out there.” “You think he’s straight up?” Mel nodded. “In this case, yes.
