MEL FOUND DANA IN THE bedroom, zipping a suitcase closed. Dana’s Boston terrier, Boo, sat at her feet watching her. She didn’t get up and run to Mel like she normally did when Mel came home. Mel looked at the dog. “It’s like she knows you’re leaving,” she said, as she dipped her head and gave Dana a quick peck on the lips. “When is your flight?” “I fly out of Columbus to Knoxville at 11:00 tomorrow morning. I’ll rent a car and drive to Gatlinburg from there. I won’t be able to see the cabin until Tuesday morning.
