An Eye for an Eye

Yves POV: Ten years have passed, yet the searing pain of that bullet tearing through my flesh and the icy grasp of the ocean's abyss is etched into my very soul. It was as if time has stood still for me, frozen in the moment when I lost consciousness. I had engraved the hatred in my heart and sworn every last one of them would pay for it. I crouched amidst the shadows, my eyes locked onto the unsuspecting man. The tension in the air was thick, my heart was calm as I observed his every move, this wasn't my first rodeo. His fingers tightened the gun trigger, aiming at the deer grazing before him. I could easily take his life as easily as the life of the deer he was about to shoot, but making it look like a suicide always makes it a bit more difficult. I watched him lurk dangerously towards the edge of the cliff to have a better aim of the deer. I knew this was my chance. With a silent exhale, I propelled myself forward, muscles coiled like a tightly wound spring. Time seemed to slow as I closed the distance between us. I reached him, a surge of power surged through my body, and I shoved him with all my might. His startled cry echoed through the forest as he went over the edge of the cliff, I watched as he disappeared, the wind carrying his fading scream away, his fate sealed. The world held its breath as he plummeted into the ground with a thud. a sense of grim satisfaction washing over me. I found my way to the bottom of the cliff and found him lying down. One look at his battered body and I knew every bone in just body was broken. He was bleeding from every plausible hole in his body. He raised his trembling fingers towards me, a desperate plea for assistance in his eyes. I couldn't contain a mocking laugh, a cruel smirk curling upon my lips as I reveled in his failure to recognize me. With a deliberate gesture, I unveiled the tattoo on my hand, the number '4' etched there, a symbol of my identity within the organization. I could see the shock in his eyes. "All I ever done was serve the organization and carry out every order bestowed upon me, and what did I get for it? A bullet in my chest." "You remember what you all did, how you took innocent children and forged us into killers." I leaned in closer, my eyes locked onto the man's, burning with a seething resolve. "I'll make the very foundations of the Organization quake, and I'll ensure every one of you who played a part in this pays with their life." He teetered on the brink of death, his shock and realization etched upon his face. He yearned to beg for salvation, but mercy was not my path. Instead, I grasped a syringe, filled it with a fluid, and drove it into his neck. I watched with chilling detachment as life seeped from him, his eyes losing their spark. Finally, sure, he was dead. I placed a call to a mysterious receiver and delivered the message. "He is dead" "Good. I will send the next target" A hoarse, echo-like voice replied "Why can't you send them all at once?" I asked frustrated "You know the deal Yves, One at a time" He replied "What about the location of the Orphanage, I asked you to find" "I'm still on it, the Organization does a great job in hiding its location. But it's a matter of time before I find it" He said "Fair Enough" I replied. "Go and erase your tracks, leave no clues behind," He said "Affirmative"
