Chapter 11 ‘Bonjour!’ Helene greets me, dressed and made up to the nines. It’s Saturday morning. I’m still dressed in the same clothes as yesterday, and I have fabulous panda eyes because my mascara has run. ‘Bonjour!’ I mumble as I emerge from my room. ‘What time is it?’ ‘It’s almost midday, my dear. You had a late one, huh?’ ‘Yes, but don’t get any crazy ideas. I stayed late at work.’ ‘Really? Yesterday too? I don’t know how you professionals work all those hours. I’d die of a heart attack,’ she comforts me with empathy and understanding. ‘Truth be told, I feel broken. But I closed a crazy deal,’ I tell her as I make coffee. ‘And you couldn’t have closed this deal on Monday?
