Chapter 3: Chapter Three: Returning with the Child
:
"Let's go, the madam has ordered to leave her here to fend for herself. After all, this is a desolate area, and there are no cameras around," the driver pushed the midwife and threatened, "If you dare to breathe a word about today—"
"I won't, I won't."
The voices gradually faded away from Anastasia Hansom's ears, and her consciousness grew more and more blurred. The hand gripping the seat finally fell limp.
Five years later, in front of the Han Family's top private hospital in A City, a luxurious and prestigious limited-edition Maybach slowly came to a stop.
"Doctor, we've arrived. President is waiting for you in the Dean's office," the driver said respectfully.
Anastasia Hansom nodded, "Alright, Uncle Zhang, please take Steward and Angelo back home and hand them over to Aunt Zhang."
The two brothers, upon being mentioned, immediately put down their tablets in unison.
"Mummy, it's the weekend. Can't we come to work with you?" Steward Hansom asked.
Anastasia Hansom tucked the hair that had fallen over her forehead behind her ear. Over the past five years, she had transformed from a naive and impulsive girl into a knowledgeable and gentle woman.
She smiled faintly, "This is A City now. You can't follow Mummy to work anymore; it would make things difficult for Uncle Han."
The other little boy, Angelo Hansom, nodded understandingly, "I understand, Mummy. I'll be good, and I'll keep an eye on my brother too."
Anastasia Hansom smiled warmly, patted Angelo Hansom's head, and gave him a kiss on his chubby cheek, "Angelo is always the most well-behaved. Steward, don't bully your brother, okay?"
Steward Hansom rolled his eyes at his younger brother and muttered, "When have you ever seen him get the short end of the stick? He's already four years old and still acting cute, letting Mummy kiss him. It's so embarrassing."
He then crossed his arms and puffed up his chest, looking like a haughty little man.
Anastasia Hansom couldn't help but laugh and also gave Steward Hansom a kiss, "Our Steward is such a cool little man, but Mummy still needs to give you a kiss!"
"Mummy is starting work today, so I might be back late. Both of you be good and don't cause trouble for Aunt Zhang, okay?" Anastasia Hansom lifted her wrist and checked her watch, speaking softly.
Uncle Zhang couldn't help but interject, "Doctor, you're too kind. The two young masters are very well-behaved."
Anastasia Hansom replied, "That's because Aunt Zhang is patient."
Just as she was about to open the car door, a valuable Phaeton pulled up beside them with a commanding presence. A figure adorned in jewels and finery stepped out, a familiar face that filled her with both shock and hatred.
Although she had mentally prepared herself before returning to the country, she hadn't expected to encounter her so soon.
"Siyan, thank you for bringing us here. Won't you stay and accompany me and Mum inside?"
It was Camille Hansom!
She was dressed in expensive clothing, her makeup meticulously done, bending slightly to speak to someone in the car, looking very eager to please.
Siyan...
So, the person in the car...
Anastasia Hansom's pupils constricted as she realized.
The window of the Phaeton lowered halfway, revealing a chiseled and noble profile. The man in the car exuded a powerful aura, and even from a distance, Anastasia Hansom felt a chill.
She stared for a moment, and then, as if sensing something, the man's cold, star-like eyes glanced out, landing on Anastasia Hansom's car window.
For a split second, Anastasia Hansom felt as if she were being locked onto, her hairs standing on end. Instinctively, she hugged her two children, not wanting to be discovered. Then, she remembered that the car windows were specially treated, making it impossible to see inside from the outside.
"Mum, what's wrong?" Sensing his mother's sudden tension, Steward Hansom curiously peered out the window, "Hey, that uncle looks a lot like me..."
"Not at all, Steward looks most like Mummy, right?" Hearing this, Anastasia Hansom's heart leapt, afraid that this smart little one would notice something, and her voice rose several octaves.
Goodness, the father and son really did look too much alike; they absolutely could not meet.
Seeing Eugene Harper, Anastasia Hansom naturally thought of the child who had been taken away by her mother shortly after birth...
She wondered how her daughter, whom she had never met, was doing. Was she well? Did she resemble her, or...
A wave of bitterness welled up in Anastasia Hansom's chest.
Eugene Harper couldn't explain why, but a strange, inexplicable sensation made him notice the Maybach. After observing for a while and seeing nothing unusual, he finally withdrew his gaze, his tone cold and emotionless, "I'm going to pick up my daughter. You do as you please."
With that, the window rolled back up, and the Phaeton drove off without hesitation.
Camille Hansom, still unwilling to let go, was stopped by the lady beside her, "Enough! You haven't even gotten married yet, and you want to tie my son to your hip? Let me tell you, whether you can marry into our Qin family depends on whether your belly is cooperative. If Dean Han says you can't give me a grandson, you'd better pack your bags and go back to the Su family."
Camille Hansom dared not argue with Mrs. Harper and had to swallow her pride, following the other woman into the hospital, looking like a downtrodden wife.
Anastasia Hansom watched everything, a cold smile playing on her lips.
"So, after all your scheming, this is the life you and your mother have ended up with."
Anastasia Hansom chuckled, "Uncle Zhang, you can go back. I'm going to work now."
With that, she opened the car door, got out, and watched as Uncle Zhang turned the car around and slowly disappeared from her sight.
Five years ago, in the outskirts, she had been saved by a passing male doctor and had safely given birth to Steward Hansom. Later, she adopted her deceased friend's son, Angelo Hansom, and raised him as her own.
In these five years, to raise the children and strengthen herself, she had studied day and night, furthering her education in her original field and apprenticing under the renowned Traditional Chinese Medicine expert, Professor.
Now, she had established herself in the TCM community.
This time, she had returned to A City with her boss, Bevis Benedict, to help him reclaim his family's assets and to seek revenge and find her daughter!
Coming back and having such a good opportunity, wasn't this a sign that heaven was helping her?
Anastasia Hansom straightened her white coat, buttoning it meticulously, and walked to the Dean's office on the top floor.
Sure enough, Camille Hansom was there.
