Maddox’s POV The morning sunlight came through the tall windows of the dining room. Breakfast was quiet today. Ryan sat to my right, humming softly while spreading strawberry jam on a thick slice of toast. Maeve sat opposite me, cutting into a poached egg. I held my coffee cup and stared over the rim at my wife. My mind went back to last night at the Luna welcoming ceremony. I remembered the moment Genevieve lost her mind in front of two hundred high-society guests. She screamed across the grand ballroom and slapped Maeve across the face. I had been ready to step in and tear Genevieve apart right then, but Maeve held up one hand and told me to stay back with nothing more than a sharp look.
