Chapter Five

1012 Words
Dale War is hard of my body being only 28, it seemed like my body was exhausted. I woke up after a long hard night missing my wife. The General asked personally for me to come with as many men possible. I brought my nephew whom needed to come with, to reassure Nicole that I would come back. I kept thinking how I intended to come to never go back prior to finding out about her pregnancy. Now I must go back, to the woman whom carries the little girl we struggled to have for six years. How unfortunately it was to only find out two months after putting in for a suicide mission. I keep telling John it's just surveillance but in actuality it is a mission that we go and never come back. At least Nicole will be with family when she delivers our baby girl. With a heavy heart I walk to the Generals tent after leaving John eating breakfast. "General, I am here." I said calmly as Garth walked around the table. "Dale come in brother!Come to the table so I can show you what we need to do!" Garth suggested. I walked up to the table, it showed the island that we were located on.It showed the vast waters surrounding us. "What needs to be done Sir?" I asked still being professional. Garth and I have know each other since when I joined eight years ago. He was my commanding officer before he promoted up to General jumping a few levels. " Dale, we found what we are looking for! It's here but a few hundred feet below sea level. There an island right next to it and they're inhabitants are very guarded about us getting in there. I need you and your men to fly there drop two on the island and come back. Those two men will intergrade themselves on the island, one of them will be your nephew John. He's built strong enough to make a fort as a strong hold so that we can drop supplies to them." Garth stated in all serious like manner. "If John goes then so do I, Sir." I said promptly as I looked down hoping he didn't take a different action than the one I proposed. "Yes, John can have you there but if I am about to lose my lieutenant then better add two more privates with the two of you. Get your boys ready for the drop, 0200 is when you get dropped so have your asses on the plane by 0100!" Garth yelled as he left the tent angrily. Lord help us all! I left the commanding tent to go back to the guys. As I approached the team, John saw the concern on my face. He hit Jakes arm and smacked Blake's head to get him to turn around. "What's up Dale?" John asked as I finally got to them. "We leave at 0100 tonight. Boys, pack as much as you can as quickly as you can because we won't be coming back for a while." I said as I went into the tent solemnly. Johnny and Jake followed me leaving Blake outside sticking his head in the tent. "Where are we going, bro?" John asked sternly. "We are being dropped in the middle of Bum f**k Boondocks! We will not have supplies for a few weeks, we will need to keep our strength! Pack food, water and building supplies. Don't you forget our damn guns because we will need them!" I said as I began throwing clothes out of my pack and started throwing the REMs I had stashed. The boys started to do the same except for John, he grabbed bottles of pop, a pencil and a notebook. I turned and grabbed them to throw them into my pack. "John go grab food and water in your pack. Your the strongest guy here so you will be carrying the heaviest stuff. Jake go grab a few guns, knives and an ax. Blake grab anything you can think of that we might need when we are away from civilization." I stated as I put my pack on my back. I quickly saw John writing to Catherine that he loved and missed her, that he would be indisposed for a while so she wouldn't hear from him. I stopped before I left the tent. "Tell her to tell Nicole that I too love her more than anything in this world, to love our baby as much as I ever could." I said with tears in my eyes. I walked quickly out of the tent before any of the other guys saw me crying. Damn even grow men cry and get emotional, we aren't all stone hedges. I couldn't be more terrified to leave Nicole to be beside herself alone in this world. Raising a newborn is hard enough with two parents but to only have one is too much for someone to handle. I walked to where the smaller air crafts were and got settled. John and Jake followed but no one could find Blake until Ira found him hiding under the bunks. He dragged him and Blake's pack to the plane. "Your here magpie, get on board because your ass is grass if your left here! Dishonorable discharge will be handed to any man who is mission ready that fails to go do the mission! Understand?" Garth yelled seeing Ira drag Blake. "Sir Yes Sir! Sir Sorry Sir!" We all yelled as we gathered Blake in the plane. " You dumb ass, he would've kicked you out like many others for hiding from their missions they're assigned." I stated as I buckled him in his seat. He shook with terror as we lifted off. I steadied myself back into my own seat. I gazed off our of the window to see the moon rising higher and higher. If only I knew that I would've been a dad sooner I would've denied Garth from his offer to go on a Nation paid exhibition.
