Akua's lips still tingled from Elijah's kiss as she made her way back to her cottage. She couldn't shake the feeling that her life was about to change in ways she couldn't even imagine.
As she approached the cottage, Akua noticed a figure waiting for her by the door. It was her pack's alpha, Kofi.
"Akua, we need to talk," Kofi said, his voice low and serious.
Akua's heart sank. She had a feeling she knew what this was about.
"What is it, Kofi?" Akua asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
Kofi's eyes narrowed. "I know about Elijah. I know you've been seeing him."
Akua's eyes widened in surprise. How did Kofi know?
"It's not safe, Akua," Kofi continued. "Elijah is not what he seems. He's been asking questions about our pack, about our secrets."
Akua felt a shiver run down her spine. What secrets was Kofi talking about?
"What do you mean?" Akua asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
Kofi's eyes seemed to bore into hers. "I mean that Elijah is looking for something. Something that could put our entire pack in danger."
Akua's mind was racing. What could Elijah be looking for? And why was Kofi so secretive about it?
Suddenly, it clicked. Akua remembered a conversation she had overheard between Kofi and one of the elder pack members. They had been talking about an ancient artifact, one that was hidden deep within the forest.
"Is it the artifact?" Akua asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Kofi's eyes flashed with surprise. "How did you know?" he demanded.
Akua took a deep breath. She knew that she had stumbled into something much bigger than herself. Something that could change the course of her life forever.
