Dancing in the Heavens

1199 Words
Angelica danced around the gardens of heaven singing softly to the animals that danced and twirled around her. Five years after her creation, she was already fast on track of becoming one of the more gifted angels. As daughter of Gabriella, her princess status was secure but it didn't stop the looks of some of the other angels. Almost from her birth, she'd known Michael, her mother's bondmate was not her father. She never asked for he treated her no different than he did her brother, Steven. Smiling brightly, she closed her eyes and continued dancing as she released her hair from the wrap around her head. Her long black hair flowed almost to the waist of her 4'6 body. She knew and often joked that before she fully matured she'd tower over her mother's 5'2. Angels fully matured within six to seven years after their creation. Angels were created in one of two way: Micah taking and breathing in older stars and renewing them into a new form or his gift to his most special angels. Those borne of these angels looked and reacted no different than those created. If one didn't know of the source of creation they couldn't tell who were stars renewed and who was borne. Angelica danced as a breeze danced through her hair forcing the white streaks the tried to hid to the surface. She hated these streaks for they stay multiplying it seemed. At her birth, two streaks on either side of her head shown but now her hair seemed coverer in the streaks. Her mother swore that what she had now was the end of them but she believed she'd be white by her maturity. In that moment the sun chose to shine its rays directly at her causing these white strands to seemingly glow against her jet black hair. She twirled once more and ended her dance as she felt her skin tingle. Her skin always tingled when another angel was close by; all angels knew when others were close. She smiled and ran as her mother danced into the garden. Gabriella smiled as she grabbed her daughter dancing around her feet gliding between the flowerbeds and the animals dancing and mewing in her arrival. No matter which garden Gabriella entered, the grounds seemed to glow when she came. She'd been their caretaker for so long that no one would replace their love for her. As she swirled and twisted her daughter in the sunlight, her wings extended across her back as they too seemed to dance in the sun. Her wings were almost as wide and as long as she was tall but they never slowed her nor weighted her down. Her wings were golden white with feathers that shimmered and danced in the wind when she flew. She was Micah's most special and it showed in her perfect features from her perfect skin to her perfect wings. All admired her and while there would always be jealous angels, none were brave enough to let Micah know it. As Gabriella continued dancing she brought Angelica closer to her wrapping her in a hug as her wings began to flutter. No matter how many times they did this happy dance, Angelica never got accustomed to be lifted off the ground as her mother danced her around in the air. It was an exhilarated feeling and she couldn't wait til she was allowed to finally fly on her own. They continued gliding across the sky for a few moments before Gabriella gently landed them sighing softly. She kissed her daughter's forehead softly before looking her in her eyes. Gabriella's hazel eyes glistened in happiness as she stared at her daughter. "I knew i'd find you out here. I hope you weren't trying to hide out from your chores though." Angelica gasped softly still on a high that the garden always seem to bring her. Slowly she looked around and said, "No mama, I came to tend to the gardens and well i...." She trailed off knowing that if anyone understood it was Gabriella. Gabriella smiled and looked at her daughter. "I know sweetie, the gardens still give me that glorious feeling that i cant help but dance and rejoice. There must be balance between the dancing and tending though especially when i'm calling you and you don't show up." She looked at her mother confused until she remembered. "STEVEN!!!!" On that day Steven would finally be of matured age. He would take his first flight alone and be allowed to fully use his god given gifts. Being two years older than her it had taken the full seven years for his baby wing feathers to fall and tonight he'd spread his new wings. It was a big deal and celebrated through the heavens. She looked over her shoulder at her own baby wings. Small and bright white they had already started shredding their feathers. This night was just as important to her for she'd have an example to follow. Her mom had already started preparing her for her night. Especially since everyone felt she'd matured earlier than most. The shredding of baby feathers was important because once they started one's mature age could be estimated. Steven had started two years ago and had recently been shredding them faster. Tonight he'd lose the last ones and be blessed with stronger bigger wings. He'd also know what his unique gifts were. Borne to Gabriella and Michael, hed been born a protection angel and would enter into a training regiment. Hed learn how to fight and Angelica couldn't wait til it was her turn to enter as well. Gabriella gently took Angelica's hand and began to lead her out of the gardens. "Dont worry sweetie, when its time for you to fly, your wings will be ready." They ran across the golden streets and green passages quickly just as the sun reached the highest point. As they reached the castle she ran to Steven's room to apologize for her tardiness. She came up short when she found the room empty and looked around for her mother ready to cry. "Remember he has to be in the temple early. He needed to be with Micah alone to prepare for the changes tonight will bring him. He wasn't upset when he left, i promise. Now we have a lot to do and i need you to help me finish decorating the pavilion outside the temple." She nodded and bounce behind her mother back outside and looked at the temple. In the sun, the massive gold encasing this building seem to glow. With is pearly white doors this was the center of everything in heaven. It was strangely quietly as she looked around and noticed none of the angels around it were singing. She looked to her mom who shook her head and whispered, "Steven is in deep prayer and devotion at this moment. That requires complete silence around the temple." Then she pointed to a massive window near the top of the almost 50' high building. "When that window opens all of the adults will fly up and bring him down to the pavilion. Then his night will begin."
