Haley’s POV I was washing the dishes when I heard the front door open. “Haley?” Nate called me with a hint of worry in his voice. My heart clenched. I hated it when he worried. “Kitchen,” I shouted, glancing behind my shoulder. I heard footsteps approaching the kitchen at a fast pace. Nate walked in and let out a relieved breath. “Oh, my love,” he said as he rushed toward me. He wrapped his arms around my waist and buried his nose into my neck. He took a deep breath and I felt him relax. I turned my head and kissed his temple. “What happened with your father?” I asked, trying not to let him know how worried I was.
