Haley’s POV
Nate’s request was completely unreasonable.
I wasn’t going to stay home. There was no way that was happening. I loved my job and I wanted to work. I was safe at the hospital. Lidia and his father couldn't hurt me while I was there. Nothing was going to happen to me while I was there.
I stayed in bed after Nate left. I was just staring at the ceiling, thinking of a way to reassure him. I hated that he was so scared. I hated that he felt bad. I hated it all and I wished that there was a way for me to make him feel better. I wished that there was a way for me to show him that I was safe.
The ringing of my phone snapped me out of my thoughts. I reached for it and answered without looking at the caller ID.
