Emmanuel Briggs sat alone in his office, the city lights pouring through the glass behind him, casting a faint glow across stacks of case files. His phone was pressed to his ear, his voice almost relaxed for the first time in weeks. “Yes… yes… that’s exactly the outcome we projected,” he said, smiling to himself. He leaned back, his chair creaking softly. “Good job.
