Tiana’s hands trembled as she stood by the window, staring out at nothing while the phone vibrated again. She didn’t want to answer.
She didn’t want to hear his voice. But Henry Augustine was not the kind of man anyone ignored twice.
She picked up.
His tone was calm, almost bored. “I just dropped a call from an insider.”
Her breath hitched.
“Your husband,” Henry continued slowly, “is filing for separation.”
Tiana’s heart slammed against her ribs. “What?”
“He’s claiming you’re unstable… and that you pose harm to your daughter.”
A sharp cry escaped her before she could hold it back. “He can’t do that! He— he knows I love my daughter! Henry, he knows—”
“Calm down,” Henry cut in, unbothered by her panic. “This is not something anger can solve.”
