Chapter 5

1757 Words
--Addi POV— Pain, all I can feel is intense, mental breaking pain. Nothing else is registering in me other then pain, I cant move, I cant scream, all I can do is mentally scream and cry as the fire burns me. “My child it is time" a strange voice echoes. I try to see the source of the voice past the fire but all I can see is flames, I shut my eyes again as the fire burns my eyes. “Don’t fear the flames, I know it is painful but you must endure, don’t lose yourself" the voice continues. I don’t know what she is talking about. ‘Lose myself? I cant even remember anything about who I am so how can I lose myself when I am already lost and all I can feel is pain' I think as the flames and intense pain blocks any other thoughts or feeling. “All will be made clear when the time is right, just stay strong, and embrace the flames" the voice continues. ‘I cant' is all I think as I finally feel my scream building up and can finally let it loose. --third person POV— The hospital room is half torched by the flames but luckily things became under control and the flames were finally gone. Addi's family waited in the hallway, unable to to take the sight of Addi's dark crisped body anymore. They all were crying and holding eachother, mourning Addi. “This isnt fair" Amy cried “She didn’t deserve any of this, we were supposed to graduate, go to college together, be room mates, and have the rest of our lives together, how could this happen to her?” June's tears started flowing even more as she clung to her husbands shoulder, her black hair a mess and singed as she had tried to help put out the fires in a desperate attempt to save her daughter, she would have flung herself into the flames to embrace her child in death if Richard hadnt stopped her. James looked shellshocked, his whole childhood flashing before his eyes, Addi has always been there for him, through everything. He had always thought that there was nothing his sister couldn’t do, she was brave, strong, smart, protective, and the perfect sister. He never even got to tell her thank you for always being there for him, she even stopped him from committing suicide and then promised to never tell anyone about it as long as he never did it again, and then she was always there to bring him out of the darkness ever ytime he started to feel himself down. He never even had to tell her when he was upset, she always just knew and was there to make him smile, even if she had to force him. Her smiling face slowly burned away in his mind and now all he could think about was the sight of her literally burning to death as he stood there unable to help. James collapsed under the grief and regret finally broke him, he cried out and screamed as her started punching the ground. His fists started bleeding from the assault but he kept going until he felt himself being lifted and pulled into an embrace, Amy. Amy cried as she clung to James with all her might. “Please stop, she wouldn’t want you to do that to yourself and you know it.” She whispered into his ear. James clenched his eyes shut as more tears flowed out and he clung onto Amy and cried. The doctor came out of the hospital room with a grave look on his face and just shook his head towards the family. “We werent able to bring her back this time, Im sorry but we lost her" was all he could say before he left, unable to see the looks on the family's faces. Silence took over as everyone froze, numb, like the last sliver of hope they held in their hearts finally snapped. June collapsed, unable to stand anymore, Richard just stood there staring, eyes wide with his lips in a tight line, James just closed his eyes with Amy as they clung onto each other with grief as they continued to cry out. Richard finally snapped out of his thoughts when they saw a bed being wheeled out with a black bag, a body clearly inside. He ran over to it and reached for it but was stopped by a nurse with tears in her eyes. “Im sorry Mr.White, it is best if you don’t look at her" she said as she tried to contain her tears, she remembered Addi, she was someone who had volunteered a lot at the hospital to help with the children and babies who needed someone to hold them since their parents couldn’t make it every day, she always had a shine in her eyes and made everyone around her at ease, she truly was a beautiful person in this world. Richard nodded and put his arm down but kept his eyes on the bed as they wheeled her towards the morgue. --UNKNOWN POV— ‘I wish I didn’t have to do this, but when the master gives an order its like I CANT refuse, only comply' a hooded figure thought as he made his way across the border of the village called Daegon, it was such a quiet little village, the air felt calm and like a home. He honestly didn’t want to do this, he wished they knew which person it was so he didn’t have to bring down the entire village. He walked through the forest surrounding the village. As he walked past the trees he finally came up upon houses, it seems like there is a lot of activity in the village despite it being after midnight. He walked towards what looked like a small quaint park, it was about 2 acres big, lots of trees, a couple small fountains, lots of flowers and in the center was a statue of what looked to be a dragon and phoenix fighting inside a figure representing the sun. He had heard the story that had passed down through the generations, that before the blessed were created there were amazing creatures, griffons, large dinosaur like reptiles, Pegasus, and the Phoenix ruled them all, but when a large dragon started killing off all other creatures not strong enough to fight against him, the phoenix cried tears of light and gave the creatures spirit another way to live, being blessed into a human. Once the human reached an appropriate age they were able to become one with the creature spirit so that the creature could once again walk this earth. The dragon hated that and attacked the phoenix directly, the battle lasted years without stop until finally the phoenix locked with the dragon and used the fires from the sun to imprison them to save her realm. Nobody knows where the phoenix imprisoned the dragon, all they knew is in order to hold him there she sacrificed herself by trapping them both, some say the battle still rages on to this day but those are just myths, stories to tell the children as a nice way to bring them up in the world of the blessed. He sighed and was about to walk away but scorch marks caught his attention. He walked over to take a closer look and his eyes widen in surprise at what he saw. --Addi POV— Blackness, all that surrounded her was blackness, the flames had disappeared but she was still trapped, unable to move, talk, or even feel. She tried to remember anything, the voice told her not to lose herself but she couldn’t remember anything! She closed her eyes and tried to concentrate, but nothing was coming to her mind. Maybe remembering is the key to why she was here. She tried to focus more, the flames and the voice is all she remembers, but then another flash reached her mind, it was a little boy with the goofiest grin on his face, she knew him, she couldn’t remember how but she just felt in her heart that she knew him. She focused on the face and tried to come up with more but the face slowly faded away. ‘NO!’ she screamed in her head as she tried to bring up his face again with all she had. ‘JAMES!’ her mind finally snapped and gave her a name. She started to get excited, this will take a long time to remember everything but atleast her mind is giving her something. And with that she continued to close her eyes and focus with everything she had on trying to bring out more of her life. --At the Hospital— A doctor walked into the morgue, since he got a call saying that something weird was going on with the Ms.White body. The doctor approached the mortician, “What happened? Why was I called her?” he demanded. The mortician said nothing but walked over to the body and looked at the doctor. “Feel her skin" is all he said. The curious doctor walked over and grasped the bodys wrist but quickly withdrew his had as the body had burned his fingers. “What is the meaning of this, why is her body still this hot, the fires were put out hours ago" he scolded “We also had her in the refrigeration for 3 hours, I just wheeled her out to finally start my examination, but I cant examine her with her body being this hot, what am I supposed to do Doctor?” he questioned, it was supposed to be an easy night, small village meant not many deaths, so he figured it would be a short shift but he cant do his job if he cant touch the damn body he was supposed to examine. The doctor was at a loss for words so he picked up the chart to see the name of the doctor who had called her death. “Call Doctor Pax, we need him down here" he said to the mortician. So the mortician made the call and 10minutes later Doctor Pax quickly walked in. “Whats happening?” The first doctor looked at him, “Her skin is burning hot still, her body cant be examined, you called her time of death so now you figure out whats going on, I have rounds to do" he said as he slapped the files to Doctor Pax's chest then left the morgue. “You and Steve there still fighting?” the mortician asked with an eyebrow raised. “Not now Dave, we need to figure this out, I have grieving family and friends still asking questions on what happened to her" Doctor Pax snapped back. They both looked at the body, the body was burnt beyond recognition, had no pulse, but still emitted a strange heat and they needed to figure out why.
