Chapter 11 Wolves On The Creek

Aiden's POV "How's she?" I asked, walking into the room with a worried expression spread all over my face. The doctor nodded, hanging the stethoscope around his neck. "She's getting better. Her temperature had drifted back to normal and please make sure to use the drugs being prescribed." He advised before I nodded. "Thank you." I said and he smiled, taking his leave the next minute. I strolled closer to the bed where Adeline was lying, looking all sick and pale. The bruises and deep cuts on her skin were visible, anyone who had done this to her must be so wicked and heartless. Torture is so inhumane. Why? Why had they done this? My fingers trailed down her bruised cheek, brushing past the spot that was wounded. So deep…. I saw her wince and quickly withdrew my hand. I shouldn't disturb her and just leave her to rest. I guess it was her sister who had done this to her. I might just have her change her school but everyone in the pack knows her to be an omega and I know they won't cease to bully her more. I made my way to the drawing room–a place where I sulk when I feel lonely. All I do is draw, it makes me feel better. For months I've been suffering from depression, always sitting alone and staring into the thin air. My mind had always been a firing range for doubts and low self-esteem but with Adeline around, I seemed to feel better and my burning mind, soothed. Drawing has been my talent from little and I had some so many work of arts. I sketched out that comes to my mind, especially the moon and butterflies but this time I decided to draw Adeline. Everything was set–the graphite pencils, markers, colored pencils , ink pens etc. I started with the overall pose, sketching out the outline of her body. I added the head and face according to Adeline's – round shaped face, gorgeous green eyeballs, plump pink lips with fine contours. I remembered every detail of how she looked. Her beautiful figure, lean yet captivating. I added the final details; her long eyelashes and full eyebrows. Though I couldn't see what I had drawn clearly, I knew it was exactly the way she looked like. Trailing my fingers down the broad drawing paper, I smiled as I was satisfied with what I've drawn. "This is just so nice." I mumbled to myself. I heard the door squeak open and turning around, I saw Adeline whose face lit up in astonishment as she set her eyes on the drawing. Shit! I quickly hid it, flipping over to an empty space. I didn't plan to show her this, I just drew it to keep myself busy. Busy? Yeah, yeah busy. Wait, how did she find me? "You're supposed to be resting, Adeline." I said, standing up. I watched her walk towards the board with a big smile. "Don't touch!" I warned, as she tried to lay her hands on the board. "Uh?" She pouted, folding her arms defiantly. "I wanna see, please…." She clasped my hands together. I gulped, seeing her do this. Hell, my heart just skipped a beat. She looked cute doing that. "Aiden?" She called my name softly and that alone made me feel butterflies in my tummy. Her voice sounded so sweet to my ears. "Let me check, can I?" She blinked her eyelashes rapidly, putting her palms together again. I sighed and nodded. There was no way I'd decline with the cute faces she was making. "Where's it?" She asked and I flipped the paper over, revealing the beautiful drawing which made her more stunned. "Aiden!" She gasped, her palm splayed across her lips. "Did you draw this?" "At least you've seen it now go back to the room to rest. Your wounds are healed yet." I told her. That didn't stop her from gushing out more. She cooed, her eyes flashing with pure admiration. "Awwwn this is nice, b..but how did you draw this, Aiden?" She frowned a bit as she asked. "Time to rest." I simply said, dragging her out of the room. "Aiden.. please, I haven't seen enough. I want to see more of your drawings." She pleaded with me but I ignored her as I headed to our room. "Sit here." I said, striding towards the bedside table, picking the drugs I told Nora to get earlier. "You have to take your drugs now." I said, handling the tablets over to her. She frowned, looking away. "I don't like taking pills, I hate the taste. It's sour." She folded her arms not ready to accept the drugs. I chuckled. So childish! Why would she be scared of taking mere relief pills? "No way, Adeline. If you wanna get better, you have to agree with me. Besides, you'd have to stay home tomorrow. Just take a break, I'll report the case to the principal." Those who did this to her– making her look all sick had to put an end to it already. "No, Aiden…" "Adeline, remember when you wanted to treat my wounds, you told me to endure the pain so right now you have to forget about your dislike for medicine, okay?" She looked at me and nodded hesitantly. "Good girl." I grinned, ruffling her hair. She cringed from my touch, moving away. I think I had to sit this pretty damsel down and lecture her that I do not bite. Like seriously, she wasn't even free with me and I'm her husband. Are we going to remain this way for a year? Well, who would be free with a man who struggles with mood swings from time to time. Let's just continue and hope things change. I steadied her cringing body. "Calm down and don't free. Take the pills on the count of three." One, two…. Oh Adeline! I followed her to the bathroom as she went to throw up. She splashed water on her face and sighed heavily, walking out. "Aiden, I told you..it hadn't been gotten to my throat and the sourness melted right on my tongue." She hissed, walking towards the mirror, arranging her scattered hair back in place. God, this girl. The day ended slowly with Adeline and I staring at eachother. She kept smiling at me, did she think I couldn't see her? When it was midnight, I rose from bed and got dressed up. I had to go to the Creek. Whatever message the person had, I wanted to know. As I was about to leave the room, Adeline woke up from sleep. Rubbing the sleep off her eyes, she asked. "Where are you going?" "I have to be somewhere. Stay out and don't open the door for anyone until I'm back." I told her as I was wary of Hudson's harassment. I don't want her to be hurt. "B..but, it's late." She checked the wall clock. "It's 12pm and it's midnight. It's dangerous to go outside." I assured her I would be back safely and not to worry. I left the house without noone noticing me but as I made my way onto the Creek, I couldn't doubt the fact that I was being watched. I turned around and when I couldn't see anyone, I walked on. The moon stood high in the sky, it's brightness illuminating my path. An hour later, I got to the Creek and widened my brows as I heard groans coming from a distance. These were wolves. Curiousity had the best part of me. I just hoped I've not made the wrong decision by coming here. I can sense trouble. Just as I turned around, I saw a pack of wolves coming towards me and just as they charged towards me, I heard a lady scream. I looked towards the direction of the voice then I saw Adeline. Why did she follow me?
