The mansion gates swung open as the black car halted sharply in front of the grand entrance. Before the chauffeur could even step out, the door burst open. Vivian stomped out, her heels clicking violently against the marble. Her face was twisted in anger, her eyes glistening with unshed tears and frustration.
The maid hurried forward, bowing slightly. “Welcome, Miss Vivian”
Before she could finish, Vivian grabbed her suitcase and hurled it toward her. The bag hit the floor with a loud thud, scattering clothes and cosmetics across the polished tiles.
Get that out of my sight! she snapped, storming inside without another glance.
Her rage filled the hallway like a storm. The maids froze where they stood, exchanging nervous looks as Vivian’s footsteps echoed up the staircase.
Miss should I bring you water? another maid asked timidly.
Vivian turned sharply, her eyes burning. water? Do I look like I need water?
The maid shrank back instantly, lowering her gaze as Vivian stormed past her and made her way to the second-floor sitting room where Rosalind, her mother, was lounging gracefully on a velvet sofa. A crystal glass of wine glimmered in her manicured hand, her calm demeanor a sharp contrast to Vivian’s fiery entrance.
Mom! Vivian’s voice trembled with anger and disbelief. “You won’t believe what that b***h just did!
Rosalind raised an eyebrow but didn’t look up immediately. She took a delicate sip of her wine before setting the glass down with quiet precision. Vivian, she said smoothly, lower your voice. What happened?
Vivian threw her handbag onto the sofa, breathing hard. She kicked me out! Can you imagine? Me! She said I was disturbing her peace, acting like she owns the whole house. Who does she think she is? Just because she’s married into the Moretti family, she thinks she deserves everything good in life. She’s nothing but an orphan an ungrateful, undeserving orphan!
The moment the word orphan left Vivian’s mouth, Rosalind’s eyes snapped up, sharp as daggers.
Vivian. Her tone was cold and commanding. Mind your speech.
Vivian flinched slightly, taken aback by her mother’s sudden shift.
Rosalind leaned forward, her eyes narrowing. “You’re too reckless. If she suspects you, everything we’ve worked for will crumble before it even begins. Do you understand that?”
“She already suspects something,” Vivian muttered, crossing her arms. “The way she looked at me like she knew I was up to something. She’s clever, I’ll give her that.”
“Then you’ll have to be cleverer,” Rosalind said. Her voice was smooth, controlled, like someone used to pulling strings from the shadows. “You should’ve acted differently. You were supposed to tell her you missed her, that you couldn’t sleep without her near. That way, she would’ve softened up, invited you back, and you’d still be close enough to watch her every move.”
Vivian frowned, pacing restlessly across the room. that is if she see me. Ever since Leonardo married her, she’s been walking around like a queen. As if she’s untouchable.”
Rosalind sighed deeply and stood up, walking toward her daughter. Her perfume lingered, elegant and suffocating at the same time. She placed her hands on Vivian’s shoulders. “Listen to me, darling. Leonardo Moretti is no fool. He’s a businessman. Cold, calculating, and cunning. You think he doesn’t know how women like you think? He probably already suspects that you have feelings for him.”
Vivian’s lips curled bitterly. “If he knows, then why won’t he give me a chance? Why does he keep avoiding me like I’m nothing?” Her voice cracked. “It must be her. That b***h must’ve said something about me turned him against me.”
Rosalind’s expression didn’t change, but her grip on Vivian’s shoulders tightened slightly. “Then we make her pay. But not now. Not yet.”
Vivian’s eyes flashed with excitement and fury. “Mom, let’s get rid of her. Once she’s gone, I can take her place. I’ll be Leonardo’s wife. You’ll finally get the respect you deserve. Everyone will look up to us.”
A dark, chilling smile ghosted across Rosalind’s lips. “You think I haven’t thought about that? Every day she lives under the same roof as Leonardo is a torment. But your father has his plans. He’s patient. He knows what he’s doing.”
Vivian frowned, confused. “Plans? What plans?”
Rosalind let out a soft laugh, though her eyes gleamed with something far colder. “That girl’s father left behind a company a fortune, really. But it’s all under her name now. Until that wealth is securely in our hands, she stays alive. Understand?”
Vivian’s jaw tightened. “So we just wait? Watch her prance around like she’s better than us?”
“For now,” Rosalind said quietly, walking back to the sofa. She picked up her wine glass again and swirled it gently, the red liquid reflecting the chandelier’s light. “Let her enjoy her little paradise. The higher she flies, the harder she’ll fall.”
Vivian bit her lip, pacing again. And what about Leonardo?
Rosalind smirked. with your charm he will definitely fall for you just be patient.
Hearing that come from her mom Vivian couldn't help but blush and be proud at the same time. That slut think just because she's pretty she deserves everything in her dream.
