CHAPTER SIX

Miyaa’s brow furrowed. She froze mid breath, her mind jerking to attention. Vivian. Her cousin. Miyaa’s stomach twisted into knots. But no Vivian wasn’t here just for a casual visit. The way she had insisted on showing up suddenly, unannounced… it was obvious. She had been waiting, desperate to see if Miyaa was truly dead. Suppressing a shiver and hatred, Miyaa gave a brief command to the maid, her tone sharp yet controlled. “Tell her I am weak and unable to entertain any guests. Wait, and also tell her to move her load from the guest room.” “Yes, madam,” the maid replied, but her eyebrows knit in slight confusion. Just yesterday, Vivian had acted as if she owned the house, staying over with all the airs of privilege. And now, suddenly, she was a guest? Madam is strange sometimes, the maid thought, shaking her head. Meanwhile, Vivian’s eyes scanned the house, her frown softening as she noticed the maids hauling three large suitcases. Hmm, she mused internally. Seems like cousin’s had taken the bait . A smirk touched her lips as satisfaction bloomed in her chest. Where does she think she’s going to find someone better than Leonardo? Her thoughts swirled with quiet ambition and envy. She had always believed she deserved him more, deserved the attention and the affection that Miyaa had taken for granted. All the best, Miyaa, she thought, watching the maids drag the suitcases away. I’ll have Leonardo. I’ll show him that Miyaa doesn’t love him the way I do. As the maids approached, Vivian carefully put on a pitiful, innocent expression, hoping to soften the scene and manipulate it subtly to her favor. What about my cousin? Why is she moving out? And Leonardo does he even know about it? She put on a worried expression , trying to contain her excitement. It’s only a little misunderstanding. He won’t be offended. After this, I’ll speak to him myself. Just then, another maid appeared at her side, clearly carrying a message. “Madam is upstairs and cannot entertain any guest,” she said with a professional tone. “She asked you to leave and reminded you to take your suitcase along. We do not need to see you off.” Vivian paused, blinked once, then let out a soft laugh under her breath. Then tell cousin I will visit her later when she's well. She straightened her posture and stepped into the hallway, mind already spinning with strategies. She would not only see Leonardo, but she would find a way to make him see her in a new light, and perhaps start a little ripple of doubt in his heart about Miyaa’s feelings. Upstairs, Miyaa leaned back against her bed, her chest rising and falling slowly. The quiet after the storm of emotions felt almost sacred. Her eyes traced the sunlight streaming across the floor, her thoughts heavy but purposeful. She had survived. She had a chance. And she would not waste it. The room seemed to hum softly with possibilities. Leonardo… she whispered, letting his name roll around her tongue as if speaking it aloud might bring him closer to her. She didn’t yet know how she would approach him, how she would let him understand the depth of her change and the intensity of her love but she knew she had to. She would find a way. Her gaze fell upon her hand again, still bandaged, still healing. It was a stark reminder of her own vulnerability, of the fragility of life and love. But now, more than ever, she felt a resolve solidifying inside her. She would protect herself, cherish herself.
