WRITTEN IN THE STARS II

“Okay, you can eat what you like while I explain my plan. At least you will not go around complaining you got hungry listening to me,” Carlo said. Looking at Cassandra, you won’t guess that she’s a tomboy. She’s very pretty and even though slacks and shirts are her favorite everyday wear, her beauty still stands out. Her parents are old school so she keeps her secret to them. Actually only a few knows about her tomboyish leaning. Carlo just happened to know it because a friend of his made a mistake on hitting on Cassandra. As a result, his friend still got a scar on his face as a reminder of the beating he got from Cassandra. “Huh! Are you trying to bribe me, Carlo? Don’t bother. Just say what you want to say so we can get over it.” “(Sigh!) Will you please order your food? It’s my treat, whether you agree or not, so don’t worry.” “Hmmp! I’m more worried what you will do if I will not agree to your plans. Are you really going to spill the beans on me with Rachel and your parents?” “That’s why I’m telling you to stuff yourself, so you’ll have a consolation at least. Think of it as a condemned man’s last dinner.” “Hey, I don’t like the connotation. Hmmp! Still, if you put it that way, please order the following for me. Two-piece fried chicken, large French fries, double-whammy hamburger and big size soft drink and sundae.” “Ahhiii! You can eat all that? Are you not just getting back at me?” complained Carlo as he got up to order the food. Actually, Carlo knows Cassandra’s huge appetite. Even though she’s slim and sexy, she has a very voracious appetite. Carlo often wondered where she puts all the food she eats. “C’mon, Carlo… do you really think you can bribe me like this?” “Awww, put a lid on it, Cass and hear me out. Also, if you agree to my preposition, I’ll even double everything you ordered.” Exasperated, Cass replied, “Tsk! Tsk! You are so shallow, Carlo. Okay, okay… let’s hear your crazy, stupid plans.” Carlo has just started talking about his plans when their food arrived. “Hold it!” Cass said, “I can’t eat heartily with you yapping there. Can you let me finish my food first?” Perplexed Carlo answered, “What? Can’t you eat and listen while I talk?” “Carlo, eating is very important to me. I don’t want to lose my appetite or even have a tummy ache. Can’t I eat in peace… or do you want me to walk-out of here?” Cassandra threatened. When Carlo did not answer, Cass took advantage of it, “Do get me the catchup, Carlo, so you’ll at least be useful.” Carlo has no choice but to play along with Cassandra and wait while she gobbles up her food. To be fair, she eats very fast. He just got back after getting the ketchup and almost half of the food are already consumed. When it comes to eating, don’t mess with Cassandra. After some time has passed, Carlo again broached the subject, “Can I talk now? Almost an hour has already passed and it looks to me you’re already finished.” Cassandra lazily looked at the time and said, “Really? I didn’t notice. Are you complaining? Well, if you can’t wait, then let’s forget everything.” “Oh, brother (Grrrrr!)” Carlo silently retorted, “Okay, okay… finish your food in your sweet time. I’ll wait.” “Oh, thank you,” Cassandra answered sarcastically, “Don’t worry… it’s just the desserts now.” The truth is, Cassandra is stalling. She really is not in favor with the scheme of Carlo. However, she’s trying to save what little chances she has on Rachel. She doesn’t want to be blacklisted and ruin her chances with Carlo’s sister. With no other chance of wiggling out of her predicament, Cass finally relented, “(Sigh!) Okay Carlo, say your pitch and let’s get it over with. I’m really sleepy already.” “Sleepy,” Carlo answered aghast, “sleepy after consuming what three people can eat? Anyway, my plan is simple. As I have said earlier, you just have to pretend you are my new girlfriend. That’s it… no more, no less.” “Ahiiii, you really lost it, Carlo. Are you really thinking? You clearly know I’m a lesbian…” “Absolutely no problem, Cass. As I’ve said, it’s just for show. I only want to show my ex-girlfriend that I have gotten over her already.” “What? Come again? I really don’t get what you are driving at,” asked the confused Cassandra. “Okay, chill… stop blabbering. This ex-girlfriend of mine, Eloisa want us to cool-off for some time. Six months to be exact. She wants us to explore other partners. She said that it’s a test to see if we really are meant for each other. After six months, we’ll get back to each other.” “If you are going to get back to each other, why do you need to have a new girlfriend? You can just waste away the six months with no attachment… therefore no complications. And WHY ME?” “Haaiisss! Can you just ZIP your mouth for just a while and listen? The thing is, Eloisa already got a new boyfriend. And even though I’m super-handsome and yummy… “YUCK!” “Can’t you just humor me?” Carlo pleaded and continued, “as I was about to say, if I cannot show them I myself has a new girl, then our friends may think…” “… that you still cannot move on,” Cass finished the sentence. “Okay, I get that part. So, it’s that a bad thing? Again… WHY ME?” “Haaaiiisss! I thought you’re smart… but why can’t you get it? You are like a turtle. All I want is to show is that I also have move on.” “Carlo, look who’s the turtle here? I got that part already. What I’m asking is, why me of all people?”
