Day 2
When I awaken, everything feels different. So full of energy. Hearing sounds I never heard before. My skin tingles with the feel of the air as it moves around me. I take a deep breath trying to steady myself, calm my senses. When the air fills my nose, the smell hits me like a brick. I can smell everything, all the smells intangling within my nose. It’s almost too much for me to comprehend. I started to look around, seeing things that I had never seen before. When I put my hand on the ground, I feel the vibrations emanating from the ground. I put a little more weight on it to stand up and feel a surge of pain through my hand. Pulling my hand back, I looked at it. The bruises cover my hand, pain going through out it. Somehow, I know it’s not broken. I don’t know how just every new instinct in me tells me it’s not broken.
Using my other hand, I go to stand up and take in my surroundings. I started walking down the path I had seen earlier, not knowing where it would take me or where I was. I followed the path along the stream all day. As dusk sets in, my stomach rumbles from the lack of food and my mouth is dry from no water. I go off the path just a little so that I may go to the stream for a sip of water. Hopping the water will not cause more bad than good. When I put my hand into the water to gather it up I was shocked by the way it felt. It was like I could feel every disturbance in the water as other creatures moved in and on it around me. I brought the water to my lips, drinking it in feeling the cold, crisp water as it moved through me.
Going back to the path, I started to look around. I was going to need to find a place to sleep. I took a breath in, smelling the same sweet scent that I had smelled the night before. I was drawn to it. So I walked towards it, letting the scent lead me away from the stream and further up the path. The darkness started to surround me again. For a moment I thought it was going to become so dark that I would not be able to see as I walked into the woods. My eyes seemed to adjust, allowing me to see like I had the night before. The forest seemed to come alive with all the sounds of the night animals. I worried that I would not find shelter in time. I started to panic, my breathing increased. Then the sweet smell became stronger, surrounding me, calming my nerves. I then followed what seemed like a path created by the sweet smell till I landed in another clearing with a large tree in the center. The tree had a good sized hollow in it and that sweet smell was so strong there that I could not help myself as I climbed on in. There was not much space in it. Just enough for me to curl up in and fall asleep. As I close my eyes, the sweet smell gains a smell that reminds me of lilacs. The feeling of being safe washes over me as I fall asleep.
