Day 3
When I woke in the morning, my hand felt much better and I cowled out of the hollow that I had been sleeping in. I started to walk, looking for the path that I had found before. Unable to find it, I sat down on the grass and started to listen to the world around me. Closing my eyes, I seemed to hear everything, the sound of the birds. The buzzing of insects. The small creatures scurrying about. Then it hits me the sound of the stream. My eyes spring open at that sound. I want to go back there, back to the stream. I needed to go back to it. I knew if I followed it I would find my way. I got up and ran to the edge of the clearing when I got hit with a smell so strong and so harsh that I fell down on my ass. I get up and try again to try to get through it but I can’t seem to push past it as every part of my being seems to vibrate with the need not not to leave. There was no reason for it. I couldn't understand why the smell was there. There was no danger that I could see no reason to stay. I stopped fighting it and went back to the giant tree with the hollow in it and the smell of lilacs filled my nose once more.
Placing my hand on the tree, I knew that I had to stay. I didn’t understand why. I didn’t know what I was doing, but I curled back up into the hollow of the tree. I stayed there all day just listening to the sounds and taking in all the smells as they changed. I didn’t know where all the scents came from. There were so many different scents, none of them bad as long as I stayed in the hollow of the tree.
When night time came, the same sweet smell entered me, making me fall asleep, once more.
