Natalie's POV
I could not breathe. The high pitched whine from Corvus's device cut through the air like a blade and every wolf in the warehouse collapsed. Xander hit the ground hard. His body convulsed. Blood trickled from his ears. Roric. Mira. All of them writhing in agony while I stood there completely unaffected and useless.
"Fascinating," Corvus said. He walked closer with that dead-eyed smile still plastered on his face. "The suppression field targets shifter DNA specifically. Disrupts the connection between human and wolf. Causes unbearable pain. But you feel nothing."
"Turn it off," I begged. My voice cracked. "Please."
