Kade's POV
Kade knew his territory better than anyone. Every guard rotation. Every security blind spot. Every secret passage his father thought was secret. He had grown up walking those halls learning the layout like other children learned their alphabet. Getting in would not be the problem. Getting out alive with the journals and that was the real challenge.
"The vault is in the lower levels of the estate," Kade explained. He crouched down and sketched a rough map in the dirt with a stick. "Three layers of security. Biometric locks that scan retinas and fingerprints. Armed guards are stationed at every corridor intersection. And a proximity sensor that triggers if anyone without Varrick blood gets within ten feet of the vault door."
