Natalie's POV
Kade's blood soaked through his shirt and spread across the black earth. Through the bond, I felt his pain like knives stabbing into my own ribs. Felt his struggle to breathe. Felt his wolf clawing at his insides trying desperately to heal wounds that would not close.
Xander moved before I could. He shifted mid-step and his gray wolf lunged at Elara from the side. Fast. Silent. Deadly. But she did not even look at him. Just flicked her wrist like she was swatting a fly.
Ice erupted from nowhere. A massive wave caught him in midair and threw him backward like a rag doll. He hit the ground twenty feet away hard enough that I heard bones crack. His wolf yelped. A sound I had never heard him make. A sound that meant real pain.
"No!" The word tore out of me.
