Kade Varrick learned to play chess when he was six years old. His father taught him the only rule that mattered. Always think three moves ahead. Right now, watching the thermal feeds of the Blackwood compound light up his screens, Kade was twelve moves ahead of Xander Blackwood. The best part was that the arrogant bastard had no idea he had already lost.
The war room was housed inside a luxury RV that most people mistook for some rock star's tour bus. Inside it was all business. Screens covered every wall showing live surveillance from a dozen angles. His Beta, Rhys, hunched over the main console pulling up heat signatures from inside the Blackwood mansion.
"Wards are completely down," Rhys reported. "We could breach now. Full assault. They are sitting ducks."
