Sath’s boots echoed softly against the polished marble floors of the palace as he walked briskly toward his quarters. His thoughts were preoccupied, a mixture of work and strategy consuming his mind as they always did. Yet, just as he passed the infirmary entrance, something caught his eye. A figure stepped into view, her familiar form draped in a tailored coat, her dark hair cascading over her shoulders. His steps faltered, his heart leaping to his throat. “Leah..” a whisper escaped his lips. His chest tightened painfully, his entire body freezing in place as if the air had been sucked from the room.
