Katie I couldn’t stop looking at the white rose that sat in a small glass jar on the kitchen counter. Every time my eyes landed on the flower, a warm flutter stirred in my chest. Frank had given it to me. The man who barely acknowledged my existence, who had hurt me with his words just a day ago, had left this simple but heartfelt gift. I’d been on cloud nine since finding it. It was proof that he cared. Well, at least a little. Maybe Frank wasn’t good at expressing himself.
