The cold air wrapped around me as I hurried down the winding path away from the grand hall. The muffled sounds of the party were slowly fading behind me. My steps were quick and uneven. The soft fabric of my gown swished against my legs as I moved. Tears blurred my vision, but I refused to stop. I couldn’t stay there. Not after what had just happened.
My mind was haunted by Ken’s hands, his mocking words, and the way he’d invaded my space on the dance floor. It all replayed inside my mind like a nightmare.
