The moment Frank let go of me, an awkward silence settled between us. He quickly took a step back. I could still feel the warmth of his hand on my waist. But as usual, he shut himself off, as if nothing had happened.
I swallowed the strange feeling building inside me and forced a small smile. "Uh, I think I’ll go for a walk," I mumbled. I needed to escape the thick tension between us.
Frank gave a curt nod, not saying a word. I turned quickly and walked away. I could feel my heart still racing.
The further I got, the more the awkwardness melted into excitement. I replayed the moment in my mind over and over again.
