She stands on the bridge and looks at the infinity of water that connects to a darkness for miles. She is mesmerized by it. I smell her soft lavender scent from where I am perched. A current pulls me to her and I couldn't keep my eyes off her. A beauty like no other. I sense she is haunted, like me. My damage soul calls to her lost one. My heart pumps like a savage beast and threatens to explode from my chest. An indication she is my salvation. I hunger for her but not the hunger of thirst that normally consumes me. Her raven hair moves against the wind. I see the hairs on her arms rise as the wind kisses her skin, if I could only be wind. I watch as she climbs over the barrier of the bridge. She hangs, all she needs to do is loosen her grip, and she would fall into the dark ocean.
What the f**k is she doing!
At the moment my non-existent heart pounded against my chest.
She f*****g let go.
I fly so fast my surroundings a blur. I catch her a few seconds before her bones shatter and are mangle by the sea. She feels so good in my arms. I know she belongs in them. I place her gently on the grass. She opens her eyes. Emeralds, my first thought. Her eyes, the deepest green but so sad.
"Are you alright?" I ask as she gets up off the grass. No words as she straightens herself up. Only the sting as her hand lands across my face.
"I didn't tell you to save me!" she yells.
All I do is stare my mind lost of words. My thoughts scramble. She walks away from me, her raven hair swishes against her lower back. Where are my words.
"Hey, wait!" she doesn't look back only quickens her pace to keep her distance.
I hasten to catch up to her "Please wait."
She turns to face me as she steps on to the road. "Listen, thanks for the save but I don't..."
She doesn't see the car. I move faster than the wind and scoop her up as the car speeds by as we land on the side of the road.
"You were saying" She is in my arms were she belongs.
"... don't need your help. What are you?" Fear enters her eyes as the question spews from her mouth.
"Don't look at me that way, love."
"What....are....you?" again she asks the irritating question. I stay silent as she scrambles out of my arms and on to her feet. She looks back at the bridge and realization sets in her eyes to save her is humanly impossible. She turns to me, "How? Why?" the last with disgust.
"You took my breath away"
"Ugh! You're pathetic." She looks at me as if my skin rots in front of her. Again, I am lost of words. She starts to walk back towards the bridge, so I follow her.
"Stop following me."
"I need to make sure you are safe."
"Are you an Angel?"
"I have no wings."
We reach her forest green Jeep parked along the side of the bridge. "Well, thanks for the save." she pulls her keys out her tight jean pocket and unlocks the vehicle and sits.
"Be safe." She nods and I watch as she turns on the ignition and drives away. I follow her. Her scent ingrain in my senses, I will be able to track her anywhere. She needs to be safe, without her my blood-lust would be unsatisfied. I would become a demon.
She drives for some time the single full moon illuminates the way and my memories of home consumes me......
"Victor, you found no mate yet." My younger brother states an obvious comment. We sit out on the deck of our home looking out at the double moons.
"Draco, I am going to turn rogue." Concern, fear, and sadness overwhelms me as the realization my family must take my life soon.
"There is one more option."
"We searched every clan. Draco, either my mate passed away or she never existed."
"I've been doing some research." He clasps my shoulder "I refuse to lose my brother."
"What did you find?" My brother heads into our home and back on to the deck and places a tether documents on the table next to me.
"These are records of a clan ship, it crashed on a primitive planet centuries ago. What if they survived? What if they integrated with the inhabitants for survival?"
"You're saying my mate could be on another planet?"
"It's a big possibility." So much excitement he exuberated. I didn't want to crush it.
"Do you have an idea on the planet?" I ask my brother as he fetches us two chalices as he continues to explain, I pour the blood from the pitcher on the table, and he opens to a page outside of our solar system.
"There are two spots where our history books states the clan crashed on. Planets named Mars and Earth. Due to lack of resources at the time and the civil war, we never sent a rescue team to either planet."
"If you are talking about us integrating with a life form than it can't be Mars, the Grey's wouldn't match our DNA." I down my cup and pour myself another.
"Exactly, so we go to Earth." A tingling sensation follows through me with my brothers words.
"We must convince the council to allow us go on this mission."
"You are the Dark Prince they will not tell you no."
My mind returns to the present as my mate pulls up to a gate, some sort of military installation the sign reads Fort Dixs. She hands the soldier at the gate her ID, and he salutes her in. Pride takes a hold of my heart. My mate is a warrior.
