Chapter 3: Intro: Domino Schaeffer's POV

"How'd it go?"

"It was great. You could have saved me the embarrassment of having to apologize on your behalf for your absence though".

I smiled amiably at my assistant who is also the team head for our project.

"You know my trip to Paris was unavoidable. Mathèo Auclair is someone I want to keep close. You never know, he might prove to be useful later". I smirked at his unamused gaze.

"Besides I trust you".

"You are scary sometimes, do you know that? Especially when something's cooking up in your brain"

"What crazy scheme are you planning this time?" Ledger asked me with a half pissed, half interested look.

"It's not crazy, I promise " I said.

"Yeah and I believe you " he shot back sarcastically. "Seriously though, did you really have to go to Paris or you just avoided going to the meeting?".

"The trip was important. Auclair is a rich investor and although he probably doesn't know half of what goes on in our company, he trusts me. I just need to convince him to invest in us before others do. I am sure I am not the only one who has an eye on him. Lucky for him, I am not greedy or selfish so his money is safe with me", I shrugged.

"True. A lot of companies would want him to be their investor seeing as he is one wealthy guy with not much idea what to do with all that money " Ledger mused.

"He gives off that vibe right?"I asked him and he nodded. "He probably knows it too".

"How was it? The meeting ".

"Oh it was splendid, almost as much as the lunch after".

"Lunch?", I raised a brow at that.

"Yeah. The CEO, Luna Barlowe...... she is, well interesting doesn't seem to do her justice but she is definitely different. The good kind though. First of, she gives off this really cool vibe, infact the other staffs seem to give off that cool impression too. It's kind of like, something they are all good at. Now I am not saying our employees are no fun or our company is insipid but..... Coffee in branded plastic coffee cups, how cool is that? Very!"

"Ledger, the meeting" I reminded him.

"Oh yeah the meeting. Seriously it was a blast. It's amazing to see that so much work has already been done on the project. They already have the prototype for the design of the computer and I was told that they would begin designing as soon as we give them the go ahead. According to the prototype, requirement is broken down into four categories: business/marketing, functional, technical and usability. Since it is a new model computer, they are looking to introduce new features to it. If they are able to do that, it will set a whole new trend in the tech market and ultimately increase demand for it".

"Personally I think it's an idea that I would want to try out".

From the notes and visual representation on the laptop screen in front of me, I could see that Ledger had managed to summarize the whole thing. The whole prototype was carefully planned and explained and like he said, these people knew what they were doing. I could feel excitement course through me as it was proving to be a challenging project and if there is one thing I love, then it is a good challenge. The smile on Ledger's face confirmed that he was thinking the same thing. There was a glint in his eyes showing just how excited he was.

"Good job buddy, I knew you would be able to pull it off without me".

Ledger scoffed at that ."It was mostly us observing and making inputs here and there. Most of the work was done by BLutech ". I nodded at that.

"So you had lunch after the meeting right?"

"Yes we did. I think I might be in love Dom".

"In love with who?" I asked him.

"Luna Barlowe. She is a total package honestly, a beauty with brains and a gorgeous personality too. She has a smile to die for too. I asked her to call me Edge".

"Only close friends call you that". Ledger is also known as Edge but only really close people call him that, the same way only close people and family call me Dom. This woman, Luna Barlowe must have either done something really good in her past life or she had really blown Ledger's mind. Ledger and I go way back in college and I know that he is an extremely hard person to please. He is always harping on about perfection and how it is a bad business technique to accept mediocre deals or projects even if the company offering is a well known one. While I was the one that always took on risky deals, he always made sure that there were no loopholes or something shady going on. He is more than just an assistant to me although a lot of people did not know this.

"How do you know that you are in love?".

He shot me an irritated look "I am a grown ass man Dom". As if. I just gave him a look and decided to humour him.

"So what's next?" I asked him.

"We need to give them the go ahead and they can take it from there".

"Okay then, I will let you know at the end of today".

"That is fine. I will just let them know first thing tomorrow morning".

"Good".
