Mate bond

Chapter 6

**Riyah’s P.O.V**

The pull I feel towards this wolf is weird, magnetic and weirdly incredible… did I mention weird?

As I sat there looking into his ice blue orbs, I snapped out of my trance and decided it was my turn to get answers, “This is a give and take conversation, I gave you what you wanted to know and so I want something in return,” I said.

Wow! I am bold talking to a wolf like that. He seemed taken aback by what I said, but quickly recovered, “sure, what do you want?”

“I am hoping that you can explain to me what this feeling is that I am experiencing toward you,” I said and saw his eyes shine with an emotion I couldn’t pinpoint. “You feel it?” he asked, excitedly. So, he knows what I feel?

“What exactly am I supposed to be feeling?” I asked, completely puzzled. “Here,” he said as he took my hand in his and my breath hitched. I felt it, little sparks of electricity dancing on my skin where his bare hand made contact with mine. It felt wonderful. I almost moaned at the feeling.

“What is that?” I asked, as I looked at his eyes to find them shining with adoration, excitement and something else I couldn’t quite read. “Mate bond,” was his response. I looked at him, puzzled. “Mate bond? What is that?” I asked.

He laughed and let go of my hand. Instantly, the warmth and those delightful sparks disappeared, and I whined at the loss of that feeling. He chuckled once again, “That’s the mate bond,” was his answer as he pointed at me.

“you whined when I let you go, your soul recognizes me as its other half. Tell me, don’t you feel the pull towards me?” he asked, I don’t even understand what he’s talking about! Before I could respond, he put a finger on my lips to shush me. How dare he!

“Thalia’s going to wake up any moment now, I should leave before she catches us,” he said, and I nodded. I made quick work unlocking the door and checking the coast, then I lead him out of the apartment. “Try not to miss me too much when I’m gone,” he said with a smirk when we got to his car outside.

“Listen, I need to know more about this mate bond that you speak of,” I said. He merely just smiled at me. “Okay, I should go home, Adrian is probably terrorizing everyone wondering where I am, then again he could have just called, or mindlinked me,” I look at him, confused.

“Mindlink? Is that a wolf thing?” I asked, “Yes, I’ll tell you all you need to know in due time, for now, I have to go before Sayeed finds me here,” he said and I agreed, Thalia shouldn’t know about this talk we had.

“Can I get a hug before I go?” he asked as he was leaning in to hug me, to which I put up my hand to stop him. “Thalia might see if she’s awake,” I said as I turned to the house. “Oh, right, Thalia,” he said, before giving a sheepish smile, he looks really cute.

He then got into his car and started the engine before driving away. I miss him already, is that weird? That has to be weird, right? After a sigh, I walked back into the house, to find Thalia making herself something to eat. I wonder how long she’s been here. Oh no, did she see us?

 “Hey, you’re awake,” I said, to which she just shrugged, “Hunger strikes,” was her response. I laughed, trying to ease my nerves, I hope she didn’t notice that I am nervous. “I thought you were also going to bed, what happened to you?” she asked. Oh no, she’s onto me!!

“Yeah, I went to bed but then I got up and decided to go jogging,” I lied through my teeth. “Around the complex?” “Yeah,” was my desperate answer. “Alright. I was just making myself something to eat. You want some?” she asked, changing the subject.

“Sure. Let me just go freshen up first. I’ll be right back,” I said as I dashed for the bathroom. I just hope she doesn’t suspect anything, the last thing I need is her suspecting me.

**Adrian’s P.O.V**

I’ve found her, I can’t believe it! I finally found my mate and she is beautiful. I never got to hear her voice, but she is beautiful, and she is my brother’s friend.

The scent on him yesterday was from her. I am over the moon. My only problem is that she is human. I’s not necessarily a problem, it’s just that I have to take the time to educate her about wolves and hope that she doesn’t run away.

I really hope that she won’t reject me. As I sat in my office, I thought back to the day

***FLASHBACK***

I stepped onto that stage, excited to be surprising Alexi on his orientation day. Uncle Scott was on board with my plan to surprise to Alexi and so the plan was pulled off flawlessly.

I got hit by that scent again, that citrus and vanilla scent. It has to belong to my fated mate right? No one else’s scent gets to me so strongly and calms me. I started looking around for her. When I finally found her, my breath hitched. She’s beautiful. “Mate! Mate!” Logan hopped around in my head.

I realized she’s human and so I decided not to look at her any longer than I already have otherwise she’d think I’m creepy and we don’t want that. Next to her, I spotted Alexi, looking shocked as ever. Seems to me like he liked the surprise.

As I began speaking, every girl in the hall kept eye f*****g and trying to seduce me. Except for her, she just stared at me, I could feel her eyes burn into the side of my face as I carried on explaining why I was there.

It was then that I decided that she would be a part of the 5 students that will be working for me by the next quarter. I just hoped she was smart enough to be one of the top 5. If not, then I can always find her something else to do at my company.

After my talk, I left the hall to go and talk to Reece who was waiting for me in the car. “Ready to leave yet?” he asked, “not quite,” I said.

“Why? What’s happened?” he asked, concerned. I laughed, “relax Reece, actually I just found my mate and would like to get through introductions with her and for that to happen, I have to stick around for a bit,” I explained.

“ABOUT DAMN TIME YOU FIND HER!” he said, I swear Reece is the most dramatic wolf I know. But he does have a point. So I left him at the car and went back to the hall where I found that students are piling out, I hope Alexi hasn’t left because then I’d have no way of talking to her.

As I approached a corner, a small figured ran into my chest and her scent filled my nose. I knew instantly who it was. As Alexi was busy whining about how I was wrong not to tell him about my plan, Logan could not shut up about our mate who was standing so shyly in front of us.

She’s even more beautiful up close, and her scent is like heaven, calming every tense and aching muscle in my body as I breathe it in. She looked adorable, in her black denims, white tank top and converses with a messy bun. She didn't seem to be wearing any makeup and I liked how simple and natural she looked. Alexi made quick work in introducing them. The other one was a witch apparently, she’s his mate, look at us Raines brothers finding mates on the same day.

He then introduced my mate, Thalia, “even her name is beautiful,” Logan sighed. This girl will be the death of us. “Thalia, my brother can’t shut up about you,” I said to her, as I took her hand in mine for a shake, also hoping I’d hear her voice.

Sparks and warmth spread where our skin made contact and I mentally groaned at the feeling. I heard her sharp intake of breath as her heart skipped a beat and then started beating rapidly. “Look at that Logan, we affect her,” I said with a mental smirk at my wolf, “she also affects you, I should know, I am you,” he shot back with a wolfy smirk.

I blocked him, that’s enough of him on the subject of our mate today. She just nodded her head instead of speaking, I am not going to lie, I was disappointed that she isn’t speaking. I had a meeting in 30 minutes, I would have loved to stay and try to get her talking a little more, but I had to go and get ready for it.

“I have to get to the office Lexi, see you at home?” I said, “Of course, bye,” Alexi said, before I turned to his mate and mine to say bye. Only Alexi’s mate responded, while Thalia merely nodded. I let the disappointment cross my features once again before I left and headed to the car, where Reece was waiting for me.

“How did the introductions go?” he asked, looking like a kid in a candy store. “I’ll tell you all about it later, let’s go now,” I said. Reece just shrugged, started the car and we were soon zooming out of the campus parking lot.

***END OF FLASHBACK***

My meeting was long over, and I was sitting in my office thinking back to today’s earlier events. I heard a knock at my door and turned to see Reece. “Come in,” I said, and he wasted no time at all. As he took a seat on the couch in my office, I began filling him in, “She’s human,” I simply said. He froze in his spot, “Okay…” he thought for a while, “we can fix this,” he then said. “How?” I asked, leaning over my desk to hear him well.

“You said she’s Alexi’s friend, right?” he asked, “Yes,” “Then get to know her as such. You went to give the students a presentation about the internships we’ll be giving out next quarter, use that as excuse to get close to the students, more specifically, her,” he explained.

“Are you suggesting what I think you’re suggesting?” I asked, unsure if it would work. “I’m saying, call uncle Scott, and tell him about your mate, he’s a wolf and he’s your uncle, I’m sure he understands what’s happening. While you’re there ‘mentoring’ the students, make sure she gets special attention from you. The mote bond will do the rest,”

I thought about it for a while. Reece may be a dickhead, but he’s smart. Logan pulled on my block, I had forgotten about that. I quickly brought it down to hear him out, “Don’t screw this up, human. I want my mate in my arms no matter the cost,” he said.

“That’s why I am the human, mutt. She’s one of me and I know better than you on my own species,” I spat back. “she’s my mate,” “mine too. I need and want her as much as you, so let’s work together, deal?” “Fine,” he retreated to the back of my head. I looked at Reece, “let’s do it, let’s get everyone their Luna,” I said with a smile.

“it’s about damn time!” Reece said, excitedly.

**Thalia’s P.O.V**

Riyah and I sat and watched Netflix on my laptop after we ate. She seems to have calmed down after earlier when I caught her with Alexi. Should I talk to her about it now? No, that wouldn’t be right.

If I ask, then she’ll know that I know something, and I don’t want her to shut me out. We have tomorrow off, maybe I’ll tell Alexi to come over and hang with us, then I can study them better.

Meanwhile, I can’t stop thinking about his brother, Adrian. I wonder if he also felt those sparks when we touched. But why am I even thinking about him? I couldn’t even utter a single word to him earlier.

Anyway, he probably has a girlfriend. Bur why does my heart break at this thought? He is handsome, rich and famous, he should be with someone, right? Why am I thinking so much about him? I only met him once, for less than 10 minutes and I was mush the whole time so I don’t even think he ever find me attractive.

Okay, I seriously need to pull myself together, Zane just dumped me a few days ago. I’m not ready to be jumping into a new relationship with someone out of my league. I need to heal. I turned to look at Riyah and noticed that she had fallen asleep.

I was about to wake her, to tell her to go to bed when my phone vibrated with a message. I looked at it:

A: Thal…

T: What’s up Az? Miss me already?

A: hahaha, very funny… I do miss you. You didn’t call or text today, so I took my chance texting you first. How was orientation?

She’s so adorable, that’s why she’s my best friend back home.

T: It was okay, I guess. I may or may not be getting an internship next quarter at a really big company around here so wish me luck.

A: Honestly, you don’t need the luck and you know it . So, did you meet anyone new today?

T: Yeah, you remember the guy I was telling you about the other day?

A: of course, how can I forget about Hot stuff?

T: LOL. Well ‘hot stuff’ is a junior, there’s a senior as well

A: OMG Spill!!!!!!!!!!!

T: He has an older brother. He’s even more hot than ‘Hot stuff’. My type of guy, but am I his type?

A: Don’t doubt yourself! You are beautiful my friend and any guy would be lucky to land a chick like you. Just be sure to dress well enough for him to notice you

I swear Azalea is living in her own little world. She does have a point though, if I want to land Adrian, I’d have to look my best at all times.
