History Lesson

My eyes felt heavy as I tried to open them. It felt like a lock was on my eyelids, but luckily I managed to pry them open and was met with the site of dark paintings of war. As I studied the paintings I felt drawn towards it but I couldn't get up due to me being chained up to a chair but I also didn't notice two people studying me in a corner. "Are you sure this is her," someone spoke and immediately recognized the voice. "Pretty eyes?" I asked looking for him in the room. "Very funny," he deadpanned, causing a smile to grow on my face, "there's someone who is coming to talk to you." "Who?" I questioned and was answered with the double door opening and bright light shining through causing me to squint my eyes.  "I'm Jaluron," a short man said, "the trainer of the warriors and you my dear are our leader." "What are you talking about?" I questioned the confusion etched in my voice. "Have you not told her?" Jaluron asked for pretty eyes.  "I had no interest in talking to the boring creature," he sneered, stepping out of the shadows, " now if I'm no longer needed I will be taking my leave." "You can leave boy," Jaluron answered and pretty eyes wasted no time to stalk out the room slamming the door behind him. "Is he always like this," I questioned. "Yes, but you'll get used to it," he told me, moving behind me. "Sorry about the chains." He unwrapped the chains from my torso and cut the rope binding my wrists together, as soon as he was finished I cradled each wrist looking at the bruising and swelling. "We'll take care of that later," Jaluron said, breaking me out of my trance, "but right now let's give you a quick history lesson." He moved towards one of the paintings studying it for a second then he started speaking. "These paintings capture the wars we face in Synovia, but don't worry this is what our people are prepared for. It is hard to believe that this place was peaceful a long time ago, everyone lived in unity and love until Chilton, a soldier, decided that he wanted to rule and started his own revolution to dethrone the King and since he was a soldier he knew all of our defense mechanism but luckily we won only an inch and ever since Chilton has been coming back looking for a way to get back at us, he had failed every time except this time," he said moving to another picture, "this painting is the day he took our queen from us. That day we fought but it was no use he had gotten better, he was prepared and we weren't and for that we faced consequences. We looked everywhere for her but we couldn't find her until we found a prophecy and that's where you come in. It read 'One chosen warrior will bring back your queen' that was the only thing written on it."  "So how did you come to the conclusion it was me?" "Well we were searching through Synovia for this chosen warrior when one day a prophet came up to us and told us the name we were looking for was Adora and we knew you weren't in Synovia so I suggested we looked through other realms and when we came across Earth and saw your name we sent Killian to retrieve you," he said turning away from the paintings to look at me "How do you know you have the right Adora?" I disagreed.  "I thought you would ask that and surprisingly you were the only person with the name Adora, you really are unique," he told me, "now come and look at these paintings." I got up from the chair stretching as I did, I walked over to the painting and somehow felt connected to it. I traced my fingers over the paintings and as I did so I saw gold light following my fingers, it finally caught up and made its way on my fingers and traveled down my arm and then soaked itself into my skin.  "Has that happened before?" I asked, turning towards Jaluron who also looked shocked. "No I've never seen anything like this before," he said, staring at my hands, "we'll discuss this later let's go wrap your wrists." As I exited the room I was met with the beautiful sight of lush plants, mystical people walking hand in hand, I looked up and was greeted with the sight of people riding dragons as if it was a mode of transportation. I looked over on my left and saw people walking out of the water yet they were dry, they must be mermaids, I then saw what looked like a long tube and people buckling in and as soon as they were strapped in they took off. I felt a slight tug on my arm and noticed Jaluron pulling me along a trail. As we walked I looked around still trying to take in what I was seeing. As he stopped walking I paused in my tracks looking at the small cottage in front of us, it was covered with plants and a garden was in front of the house labelled as different herbs. Jaluron knocked on the door with a pattern which caused the door to open although nobody was behind it, he let me go inside first then closed the door as he came in.  "Jal I wasn't expecting you," I heard a woman's voice. "I have someone I would like you to meet," he said, fixing his clothes although there was nothing wrong with it. As he was about to say something a woman rounded the corner, she had purple hair that stopped at her shoulder blades, her complexion was pale making her baby blue eyes stand out, she wore a black skirt that stopped at her ankles with a dark blue shirt. "Hello I'm Adora," I introduced myself, holding my hand for her to shake. "I'm Alia," she said, shaking my hand, "you're the warrior." "That's what I've been told," I told her, chuckling at the end. "I was just wondering if you could wrap her wrists, it's really bruised," Jaluron spoke but he seemed nervous. "You know you could've just taken her to the infirmary, but I'm happy to help," she said, then turned around walking back into her room, "I'll be right back."  "You have a crush on her don't you J," I said in a sing-song voice. "What? No, I don't," he blushed. "The blush is given you away," I teased. He was about to argue back but Alia came back in the room with bandages and something that looked like tomato paste but it was green. "This way," she said, leading us into a room filled with jars full of herbs and a bed, "sit right here," she said as she patted the bed. As I sat on the bed she opened the jar filled with paste and took a spoon scooping some out and rubbing it on the bandage. "This will help you heal quicker," she spoke as she wrapped my wrists. "Thank you," I told her as she finished. "Now that we have that sorted out we have to get you ready to meet the King," he smiled at me. "What! You didn't tell me that!" I shouted and panicked. "Calm down," he told me but that made me even more mad causing Alia to slap him in the back of his head. "Don't ever tell a woman to calm down," she scolded him. "I'm sorry," he told me, "what I was trying to say was he was glad that you're here so there is nothing to worry about."  "In that case let's get you ready!" Alia exclaimed.  It was going to be a long day.
