"I got a call from Raven last night. He said they're going to school today!" Monique squealed. That's how she greeted me. I went to the library to return the things I borrowed. Monique was talking non-stop until the librarian shushed her. I silently smirked, and she just pouted at me. "You're close to that old woman?! Gosh! Obviously, she doesn't have a husband." She rolled her eyes. "She's obsessed with books," I said. Monique chuckled and hugged my arm again. Suddenly, there was a commotion in the hallway. We got pushed to the side by the crowd. "Fudge! That hurts big time!" She gasped. We were looked at by a group of girls in front of us, and they glared before screaming again. We both rolled our eyes. "Let's just use the spiral staircase," I said to her. It's on the side of the building. "What?! The somewhat creepy and rusty one?! I might get scared!" She gasped. "Up to you. Stay here then," I said. She pouted at me and just followed. Her steps were noisy because of her high heels. "Don't let me go, please!" She squealed, holding onto my jacket. "You're the one holding on. I should say, 'don't let go,'" I said. She looked pale from nervousness. We were still on the 5th floor, and the classroom was on the 2nd floor. I held her hand to ease her anxiety a bit. Our hands were wet when we reached the 5th floor. She took out wet wipes and wiped our faces and hands. "I'm so sweaty!" She squealed while wiping herself irritably. We entered the classroom, surprisingly empty. Monique went to the aircon, and I just slumped on my desk. Now, I'm feeling sleepy. I must have had too much to drink last night. I fixed my hoodie over my head when I heard some noise. People were screaming outside, but I was too tired to care. I put on my headphones and played metal music. "Maureen, the teacher is here," Monique pulled my headphones and whispered to me. I raised my head and took off my hood. They were all there, and the teacher was already doing the attendance check. "Beckham, Monique Allison." "Present!" "Maude, Maureen." I just raised my hand. The teacher nodded. The roll call continued. "Logan, Christian Marius." "Present!" Someone exclaimed behind me. "Ocampo, Analia." "Orteza, Richard Manuel...." so on and so forth. "Smith, Raven Sky." "I'm here!" Then he chuckled. So on and so forth... "Zekovia, Waldrin Francois." I didn't hear any response, but they were all looking at my back. I didn't bother to turn around. I didn't care about them. Lunchtime. I ran my fingers through my hair and was about to grab my bag when suddenly the chair got stuck. I heard laughs. I heard Monique gasp. "What is it, Raven?" I heard Monique say. I sat back down and tried to remove my bag from the chair, but it seemed like it was glued. "Lomi?" I heard someone call me. I looked at the person who called me. "Lomi?" I called back. "You/You!" We both blurted out at the same time. He suddenly slapped Raven's face and helped me with my bag. "You're the one who gave the glue, Christian! You even said to stick her jacket, right?" Raven said. I looked at Christian, who looked so guilty right now. "You can't do that to my friend!" Monique hissed. They tried to pull my bag, but it tore. "You can put your stuff here." Christian offered his bag. "No, it's okay. I'll carry them," I said. I avoided eye contact and took out everything from my bag. "Maureen, sorry," I heard Christian say. I didn't bother looking at him. I just left the classroom. I went straight to my locker and left my stuff there. I'll come back for them before classes resume. "Sorry for their behavior," Monique said to me. I just said, "It's fine." She held onto my arm again, and we headed to the cafeteria. "So, Christian is the one you're referring to as your boyfriend?" I asked Monique. I noticed her sudden blush. "Well, he's not really my boyfriend, but I like him! A lot! But he doesn't like me back," she pouted. "I told you to stop being desperate!" I rolled my eyes. She sighed and we started eating. We were interrupted when a bag fell on our table. I heard Monique gasp, and I looked at who had called me earlier. "Hi, Silver," he smirked, referring to my silver eyes. "Raven, please stop bullying her!" Monique hissed. Waldrin was beside her, and Christian was on the other side. "I just said hi!" Raven said with a laugh. I continued eating; I didn't want to engage with them. "Uhm, are you coming to our house on Saturday?" Christian asked me. I glanced at Monique. I could see the pain in her eyes, but she just looked down and continued eating. "I have work," I said. "You're a working student?!" Raven gasped, leaning close to my ear. It hurt like hell! "What do you care?" I rolled my eyes. He put his arm on my shoulder. My fist met his face immediately. "Don't touch me," I clenched my jaw. I resumed eating, and Raven was just whining in pain. "F*ck! I'm bleeding!" He hissed. He suddenly grabbed my collar and was about to hit me when someone caught his fist. "Enough with that, Raven!" Christian hissed. "She punched me first!" Raven complained. I finished my drink quickly. I might end up in a fight here. I stood up and pushed my chair to leave. I heard Monique calling my name. I just noticed that everyone was looking at us. "Frappé, Cappuccino, Americano. Then blueberry cake, cheesecake, and strawberry cake," Raven ordered. I rolled my eyes while writing down his order. "With a smile, Maureen, okay?" Christian added, and again, I rolled my eyes. They should be banned from here! "Is that all, sir?" I replied coldly. "Yup!" Raven grinned. I looked at Waldrin, who had been quiet all this time. He was just listening to his headset or sometimes sleeping. "Sorry about their behavior," Monique said to me. I forced a smile and went to the kitchen to prepare their orders. I'd love to poison their food, but I won't ruin Monique's business, of course. "Make sure you tie those two properly!" I heard a voice. I moved carefully. The lights were on near the counter. I saw Monique and Queenie tied to the chairs. I approached a guy close to my spot. They were all holding fake guns, but they also had knives. There were four of them. I quickly pulled one of them and hit him on the neck. He didn't make any noise, so the others weren't alarmed. "Let's go! Hurry up!" someone hissed. I went out of my hiding spot. "Who are you?!" someone yelled. I kicked him in the stomach, and he lunged at the counter. The guy guarding Monique was also charged. I gave them punches and kicks. I quickly took them down, but I felt a numbness in my cheek. Someone called the police, and I tied up the suspects myself. "Can we get your statement?" the police asked. "Can I do it tomorrow?" I said and looked at Monique, who was trembling. I carried Queenie and walked Monique to the guest room. Both of them fell asleep. "Maureen, you have a wound," Paeng said after I carried Monique to the room. They were both asleep. I touched my cheek. "It's just a small cut. I'll treat it later. Go to sleep," I said. "Okay, Ate. You should sleep too," Paeng said.
