EMILY It was a little earlier than I usually woke up. Almost an hour earlier. The morning was a little cold, the soles of my feet feeling numb as they hit the ground. Putting on some socks, I smiled as Glenda climbed onto my lap, almost as if she was asking to be petted. Stretching my arms, I went out to the living area where I saw Aunt Lena sitting, a big old box on her lap. “Good morning,” I let out, my eyes on the box. “What's that?“ “This?“ Waving it off, she added, “Oh, it's nothing. Don't worry about it.“ “What happened to ‘no secrets among us girls’?“ “Okay, fine.
