The Pack

506 Words
Pelts swirled around as the pack paced around the hollow. Scents fluttered around Lana. She recognized a few from town gatherings in the past. Gazes fell upon her some suspicious, others happy, and some curious. "Is this really your sister? How can we be so sure since she disappeared so long ago." A grey wolf stepped forward. "She smells weird too." A golden wolf piped up. Sam gazed down at Lana, letting her prove herself. Lana opened her mind to the pack link and joined it. She flashed her old town memories and the moment she was taken. Then her muscles strained as she shifted into her wolf. Her pelt was glossy in the sunlight and she sat down and tucked her paws under her tail.      "Does that prove enough for you all?" She scanned the wolves, waiting for an answer. "That's good enough for me. What happened to you though and why did you only come back now?" The same grey wolf spoke up. Lana allowed a flash of her capture, the experiments, and her escape. She was careful to leave out the fact she was now part vampire. She had to drink blood to survive though only in sparse amounts. She could sense other vampires and had special powers. More trust was needed before she let them in.     The grey wolf nodded in response to the memory flashes. He seemed satisfied as he remained silent. Other wolves began to greet Lana. One scent hit her and instantly flashed to her childhood friend. Zack. She felt him approach from behind. Lana turned around and saw a brown wolf with dazzling green eyes. His eyes were wide as if he still couldn't believe she came back. He stared at her a while longer before stepping up to her and shifting back into his human form. Lana kept her eyes above his waistline and followed his rigid muscles up to his face. He had a strong jawline, a broad nose, and green eyes with short dark brown hair.      "Let me see you again. I still can't believe it." He begged her and pleaded with his eyes. "Let's go back to town and get some clothes." Her face heated up and she looked away. She could feel Zack watching her as she took a few pawsteps towards town. There was a snapping of bones as he shifted back in to a wolf. Their pawsteps thudded against the ground as they neared town. She stopped and flicked her tail toward a group of trees.      Lana stepped behind the trees then shifted, her bones cracking and popping under pressure. She summoned some new clothes then hurriedly put them on. Now she had on a grey hoodie with jeans and white sneakers. Peeking around the corner she saw that Zack had found some black shorts. His muscles glistened in the sunlight as he peered towards town. His eyes flicked over to Lana as she walked out. They softened and he embraced her into a tight hug. "You really are home."
